This is the first game of like a dragon which is like the 7th game of Yakuza.
If you really want to understand the whole story then start playing from Yakuza 0.
But if you want to experience it then you can purchase this game and then decide if you want to play the sequel. They are all individual story, you probably just won't understand some character interaction if you start from this.
This game came out a few years ago. Lol. The sequel just came out.
