I think its wild how much value these have held over the years they're like 4 years old now. I own like 4 of them price hasnt dropped much since they introduced them. Should also mention the ones posted by OP are Refurbs, so its not an amazing deal imo, but its a decent one cause they dont really drop a ton in price tbh. Maybe when Wifi 7 is more mainstream these will finally start being more affordable

I think they're decent, but the range between nodes could use some work. Im on Verizon Fios 1 Gigabit and the distance between all 4 nodes are about 30 feet between 1-2 walls only gives me about 200-400mbps avg. Asus also has some of the easiest mesh network setup out there w/ app control for updating firmware remotely. Adding more nodes is really ez and you dont even need to use the same one for your network so long as they're Asus AI-Mesh routers. Imo It makes more sense to buy a high end ASUS ROG router as the main node and then use these as your secondary nodes.

Where did you see they were refurbs? I'm seeing $275.91 now for a new two pack.

Any thoughts on the parental controls on these?

Thanks for the comments, I posted in case other people missed it a couple months ago as it FP'd at $287. I also don't see it listed as refurbished unless I missed something? I do see a 1-Pack [amazon.com] for $210 and a 2-Pack used Like New [amazon.com] for $199.96

They do have parental controls that can be abled via the app or webGUI, not that i approve of limiting access on the internet to your kids or have any say over what you do as a parent.
