If anything, why not just modify the wildly popular frontpage deal rather than have staff post a redundant thread based solely on info from the original thread?

They didn't have the handling fee before. Now they are adding it which kills the deal compared to before. I guess I'll keep my original order or maybe try to ask them to retroactively apply the coupon during pickup?

The handling fee was definitely unpleasant. My guess is you can avoid it if the store has this item in stock. This is essentially a shipping fee either to home or to store. You can cancel your order, reorder using the code, and ship it to your location. At least you can save on gas, mileage, and your time.

Dumbest thing I've ever heard. The coupon is literally in the description of the other post — it was added in afterwards.
Staff here are just a bunch of shills.

Not everyone reads into the comments when deciding on whether or not to purchase a deal, so they would have missed the coupon opportunity in the previous thread.
Once a deal hits front page, you are welcome to Mod Alert it and we can add a coupon to the front page post if the OP didn't include one in theirs, or anyone is welcome to add one to the Community Wiki if you have that option available on your view.
No - as "staff" you should be above reproach with this kind of stuff.
You can see that the top rated comment in the original post is about the coupon, so rather than do the right thing and just modify the existing post that has hundreds of votes and comments, you weasel in with another post on a technicality.
This is a primary reason why I go out of my way to NOT use links in a staff post and just go find the item separately on the retailer's site if I want to buy it. Seriously, you guys are the worst.
