Hey there everyone! As we go into the new year one of our areas of focus will be to improve our commenting functionality on Slickdeals.
So what's your beef with comments? What is it lacking in the experience, what are some common issues or pain points you have around comments?
What are some things that you wish our comments functionality had or a new feature that will help improve comments for you and our community?
The top pain points we often hear that we will be solving for so far include...
Lack of Reviews
Users can find it hard to scan through deal comments and chit chat to find product reviews on the product.
No UGC Photos
Existing and new users have been wanting to see user uploads when they receive their products.
No Filter/Sort
There is no way to sort and filter the types of comments users want to see. Comment search does not work effectively.
Threaded Replies
Hard to understand what is a reply to a comment vs a new comment.
Continuing to show the OG comment with the reply gets too busy and convolutes the comments.

Hide ("Post was voted 'non helpful'" or such) posts that are carbon copy duplicates. Some users like polluting every discussion with complaints about the product or seller. Let them vote if they like, but hide the repetitive comment when it's a verbatim duplicate from before.
