I bought mine almost 6 years ago now and it still runs perfectly, even through incredibly hard use. The self-propel feature on mine is adjustable via an incremental toggle switch from a slight crawl to a nice brisk pace. I highly recommend it to everyone!
There's a dial you can spin to lower and increase speed. She'll do great
Ok...well you have your datapoint to add, and I have mine. I dont live in Texas, and I also dont mow just "1/8 of an inch". Rainfall in downstate NY is quite substantial during the growing season, and to avoid cutting off more than 1/3 of the grass' length, weekly, or even 2x-weekly cutting is required.

Charging 4x is not an issue with two batteries.

Calling these machines "trash" is still extremely hyperbolic and helps no one. No solution is perfect; my parents are elderly but still enjoy the exercise of mowing the lawn; not having to clear out seasonal gas, clean out carbs, and push around heavy machines is a boon to them, so electric is ideal for them.

Question for the people who have this mower...I do not plan on using the self propel feature on this. When you are pushing this without using the self propel feature is there any resistance? Last mower I had with self propel it felt like it was "in gear" trying to push it without self propel

I did a lot of research on EV lawn mowers this week and this seems to be the best value. The Greenworks from Costco seems to be a good deal too!

This is the lowest rated model (73/100) from Ego on Consumer Reports, however everything is still rated very good or excellent, and they still "recommend" it. Not sure why but it's lower rated than its non self propelled version
If I had to guess I'd say it's because the mower runs longer on the non self propelled version. People need to factor self propulsion into the overall battery life, then you see that the standard version is superior, technically speaking.

Ok...I own basically the entire EGO line : standard push mower (not this one), trimmer, blower, hedge trimmer, pole saw, tiller, edger, and the brush blade attachment will arrive today. I own just 2 batteries: a 5 and a 2.5. 5 came with the mower (in 2018), 2.5 came with the trimmer. Never had a problem with the 5, had to return the 2.5 a few years back because it crapped out on me, but EGO replaced it quick with no problems. Haven't had any problem with the new 2.5.

I think the standard mower is great. It gets the job done and has needed ZERO attention. Same for all the other tools, except for one time when I didn't put the new edger blade on properly and had to take it to the shop, where they laughed at me and fixed it for basically nothing. So yeah these are in fact great products that get the job done and last. Highly recommended.

This is a fantastic deal. Thanks OP! Wink

Ego is laughing all the way to the bank as being a manager at home Depot I saw so many of these batteries coming back after a year or two customer service with ego was really good when they first started but they've gone way downhill now they make it like an act of God to get a replacement I would stay away from this brand until they invest in better battery technology their first cells were Sony 1850s and they were much better batteries but like all companies they went cheaper and now you can buy a larger amp hour battery with cheaper cells in it so it doesn't last as long
bro, is that all one sentence?

The good thing about the Costco deal is you can return the mower to Costco if you don't like it or if it doesn't work for you.

It seems that Lowe's doesn't offer the bundle with the 5Ah battery anymore, at least not in north Charlotte stores.

Landscape gardener here, I have a client who purchased one of these mowers for her backyard (down a flight of steps) so I don't have to weedeat the lawn.

I rate the mower as passable. Not the power of a gas unit, but if you don't tax it with long grass it does an acceptable job. However the batteries suck. A 7.5Ah unit died after 2 years. She has been approved for a replacement, but 3 weeks have passed and it has still not shipped.

My advice...have a backup generic battery, and factor in a very short battery life. There is no way would pay $400 for an Ego 7.5Ah battery, they are a joke. Reminds me of a nearly free printer with exorbitantly priced ink cartridges.

In my own business I use Stihl blowers and trimmers, and have both AP and AK series batteries with 5+ years on them and never a problem. Ego batteries are not up to that standard.
