If you have access to Perks at Work, it's $1059 plus 12x points. Also, if you have the Amex Lenovo offer, it would take another $100 off. All stacked together, it seems a really sweet deal. Just bought this a few days ago but haven't opened yet.

EDIT: Still available, but down to 9x points for 5 star members
If you happen to be over 55+, you get an extra $60 off using ID.me. Pays for the 64GB upgrade! Verify at Checkout.
Read a 1 star review stating this has the same sleep/wake issue as the Gen 1 model had, guy had 3 replacements and same issue. Then there are 2 reviews about machines shipped without valid Windows OS keys. These AMD P16s seem cursed, they just clearanced out the Gen 1s at $758 on ebay and $808 on lenovos site. There's a general glut of these 'Power' models that can't sell through at standard sale prices.

Good deal. I really want it. But the display being 60hz keeps me back. Could anyone confirm it's a 60hz refresh rate?

It is 60hz

Struggling between this "Lenovo ThinkPad P16s" vs a "Legion Pro 5i Gen 8 Intel (16") with RTX 4070"

Legion Pro 5i Gen 8 System Specs:
Processor: 13th Generation Intel® Core™ i7-13700HX Processor (E-cores up to 3.70 GHz P-cores up to 5.00 GHz)
Windows 11 Home 64
NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 4070 Laptop GPU 8GB GDDR6
16 GB DDR5-4800MHz (SODIMM) - (2 x 8 GB)
Storage: 512 GB SSD M.2 2280 PCIe Gen4 TLC
Display: 16" WQXGA (2560 x 1600), IPS, Anti-Glare, Non-Touch, 100%sRGB, 300 nits, 165Hz, Narrow Bezel, Low Blue Light
Camera: 1080P FHD with Dual Microphone and E-camera Shutter
WLAN: Wi-Fi 6E 2x2 AX & Bluetooth® 5.1 or above
The Thinkpad P16s is a very portable 16" laptop. I used to have it and can easily lift it with one hand to carry from my desk to the sofa or wherever and it rests comfortably on my lap. It also has a smaller charger than the Legion's massive charging brick. It also has the better screen (OLED) and has the trackpoint, which for me is huge bc it eliminates the need for a mouse as I don't like using a touchpad.

The Legion 5 Pro is a heavy machine relative to the P16s, although it is actually pretty streamlined and not especially heavy for a 16" gaming machine. But I would not call it a very portable machine. It's fine for carrying from point A to point B in a laptop, but working with it on your lap is very uncomfortable and carrying it from the desk to the sofa takes effort (both hands unless you are pretty strong guy).

If you want gaming / graphics capability and a lighter/sleeker form factor, check out the Legion Slim 7 (now called the Legion 7 in 2024). It's slimmer and lighter than the Legion 5 Pro but has almost the same performance capabilities.

My suggestion is to wait for the 120 Hz version of this same display.
You'll be waiting forever. I don't think there ever been a P series ThinkPad with 120Hz or more. Doubly so at 4K res. Triply so at 16"!
All the ones I've seen were aftermarket display installs.

Biz class Lenovo don't really go beyond 60Hz AFAIK.

I do get the power button issue on my model, but it's not as bad as people say. It's just a quirk that exists to remind you that life can't be perfect.

Happens maybe once a quarter for me. Random restarts happen more frequently for me at ~once a month. That's where I close the laptop lid with some windows open... then open the lid and it looks like a brand new session.

Then again, I have a very customized setup, so I expect my experience to be an outlier.

At this price, I'd consider getting this laptop again. Gets much sweeter though, when CB sites offer 10-15% like they do during the BF weekends.

What do you mean by power button issue? Are you referring to a sleep issue or blue screen of death?

This is a great CPU with a great screen, but the speakers are probably the worst I have ever heard on a laptop. I had to return it because of the crappy speakers which weren't even good enough to watch a youtube video.

I'm waiting for some P16 laptops at work for our CAD needs, but they use an A1000 graphics card. WHat is this that comes with this one, integrated? Can this be used with CAD/Graphics etc? TIA

This P16s uses integrated graphics. I would look up benchmarks for the exact CAD software you use to see how this iGPU (780m) performs--it may be good enough. Here's a P16v with an A1000:

Do you see Lenovo at all? If you see Lenovo, click through to the Lenovo site and navigate or search for the laptop and you should see the pricing if it's still available.

Just checked. It still shows for me but the points back has dropped to 9x instead of 12x

If you don't see Lenovo as a partner site in Perks, then maybe it's not offered with your employer? Not sure. I know they do that with some Samsung offers but I've never seen it with Lenovo.

definitely go with the 4070 over integrated

Saw it now. Yesterday, when I search Lenovo, got a bunch of HP and DELL results. Now it shows up, but 6x points only. On Lenovo side seem having a few extra options. Will keep an eye on the 64G model. Thanks!
