As a note for those interested in switching a performance flag on this device, the Hyperthreading functionality will be turned off for security reasons [chromium.org] but can be enabled easily [google.com].
Good luck!

And it got cancelled. Oh well.
It's also interesting that I can have dozens of chrome windows open on my Chromebook without issue, yet a handful of chrome tabs on my windows PC can consume gigabytes of ram and bog it down significantly. However, might just be my configuration.
If you have an old laptop you want to breathe life into, you can install chrome os and try it here:
https://chromeenterpris
There are also some open source alternatives that, per reddit, have better driver/touch screen support, although I personally havent tried them.
It does weigh a bit more than I'd like. That's too bad. Had a sub-2lb Chromebook in 2016 with 4GB RAM and similar other specs that was the best laptop I've ever owned, until the 5 important keys on the keyboard wore out. Loved that Chromebook, after I wiped chromeOS and put a lite Linux onto it. I'd probably still be using it today if the keyboard didn't cost $$90 + $100 labor to replace it. Sigh.
All chromebooks seem to be fine for about 2 yrs, then things start breaking. That's been my experience with the hardware.
I'm always looking for a sub-$200, sub-2lb, laptop with 13inch 1080p screen, 8+ GB of RAM, and swap-able SSD. I'd prefer a Dell, since their keyboards seem to last the longest. My current laptop has most of that, but it is 15 inch - much too large. Too large to bring on travel. Recently, I've been traveling with an 8in tablet, but it isn't quite enough OS for my needs.
Looks like some 6th-gen Latitudes are available that meet my needs, but they list crappy 768p and 1080p resolutions. Looking at the details for each item, none are 1080p. Sigh.

Yup. I have it and the screen is beautiful but that damn thing runs so hot and in my light use of it (10-15 hours total use) I got 3-3.5 hours. It was pitiful. I also bought a S7+ tablet a few months later and haven't touched the Chromebook in years. The dead giveaway on the red versions is the gen 1 with the I5 has a red keyboard too. The one in this deal is a major downgrade in specs and screen but a major upgrade in battery life. Specs are fine on it too as it's a Chromebook and can run off a potato as the processor.

Yes, all apps on google play store
Use case, your not going to get the battery life, the support, ease of use, and good screen quality at this price in combo.
I get the judgment.... its a chrome book. The hardware and OS are laughable in laptop terms but we aren't the intended recipient.
Case in point I have a MacBook in my bag that I use for chrome occasionally .....everything else I would use it for portability-wise is faster and easier on my phone and when I'm home I use my desktop PC. The MacBook is a waste on me.

This is really what people need to consider. I bought my Chromebook for the price but there's truly zero use case scenarios where it would work better than something else I have/had. I bought the gen 1 a few years ago on sale for almost $500 after tax and to this day I've never had buyers remorse ever on a product, including new cars, phones, you name it. A total waste of money and I'm not one to ever resell anything so it just sits in the box. The slickdeals buy now think later has bit me in the butt many times.
- screen is very good for videos
- keyboard is good
- build quality is good
- it is a little on the heavy side at 2.7 lbs
If you are only getting this for the QLED screen for watching videos get the cheap version like I did. Mine works fine for light web browsing and can handle citrix for remote working in a pinch
He has the 530
