A cheap laptop with 16GB of RAM? Darn.
This isn't sold in the warehouse. It's a blue page that is online only. Advertised at $250 off the $700 price ($450) but their price changed about a week ago to $650 so the $250 off takes it down to $400....pennies ignored
Oh, very subtle detail (blue vs. white page) that I missed. I almost went to the warehouse to buy it so thanks so much for pointing out.

If I'm not mistaken, 2666 MHz is a *motherboard* limitation, not a RAM limitation

That's what I've seen in so many reviews for this model, and it seems like all the inspirons and latitudes I've read reviews on lately have the same problem - fans so loud people return them, overheating. I keep hoping to find one that doesn't have that problem, because I always buy Dell. I think I have to take a chance and buy a Lenovo. Got one for my husband last year, he likes it. But I've seen reports on some Lenovos where pwm flickering on them causes eye strain, so need to find one that doesn't use pwm.

Well a company as big as Dell can just say we are doing All of our laptops with backlit kb's, all. Economies of scale, can turnoff easy and the BIOS would all be the same also in that respect for supporting them. It's actually easier for them too since it is such a very, very popular feature.
As far as the RAM goes 16GB is what they tested at Dell so they have to say that is Max on their end. Crucial has tested 32GB then, I'd take their word for it for what they are showing for that model. Has worked for me in the past.
I have a Dell 5570 8th Gen that can go to 64GB of DDR4 3200. I also just Installed a CDRom caddy for extra small SSD so I'll have 3 drives in that laptop!!
Man it sucks that, what 95%-99% of laptops do not offer 3 hard drives now without spending like $4,000 like on the MSI and Razer Blade ( had login to Micro Center ). Why is this not a feature for $800 or at least i7 $1,200 models is beyond me in 15.6" or maybe 16" screens. They need to increase the PCIe lanes, even if it was PCIe 4 x 2 it would still give people more space.
Remember to check CPU-Monkey.com and NanoReview.net and GadgetVersus.com to compare CPU's.

As far as Ryzen 5000 series they do not have AV1 decoding. If they did, then I probably would have two older devices to play with in a home lab since they are fast and cheap. But AV1 is really nice. What YouTube, Netflix… can use.
