The best air purifier deal is back at Costco.

I have these Winix units all over my house.

Better performing than everything you can find on Amazon and it comes with 2 years of filtration and easy to control on a Wi-Fi app.

AHAM rated for 360 sq ft, but will cover up to nearly 1,800 square feet with one air change per hour.

My favorite feature is the sensors and auto mode. It gives you the ability to set it up and forget about it. The fan speeds will change automatically, the air quality sensor will change colors and let you know it's working and the change filter indicator will let you know when it's time to change the true HEPA filter (I usually set a timer/reminder for my carbon filter change as I do with my furnace filter).

These units have helped my air during wildfires, Covid periods and will be purchasing more as it's cheaper than buying some other units filters.

Anyone else have theirs develop a whine/hum? I had to move it to dog room
Winix includes an extra filter, so you're already at the same price, assuming $80 for Shark + $20 for extra filter.

Shark states 1000sqft of air change per hour, Winix is 1800sqft
Shark is refurb with 90day warranty, Winix is new with (I want to say) 2year warranty, plus Costco satisfaction coverage.

Can't comment on reliability of Shark, but I've got 3 Winix in the house. One of them being maybe 6-7 years old at this point. We use it almost daily.

On the Winix, I did have to open it up and tighten the fan when it started rattling at about 5 year mark. But I think even if someone had to replace it at that point, it would be totally worth it the price paid.
I bought 2 of these units for myself, and my father bought 1 last year. No complaints, have it setup on a schedule and on auto it is nearly silent even when it's only 4ft away from my head. It will ramp-up/down automatically if AQ decreases, and comes with 2-years of filters. Plus, Costco warranty.

If you're looking for one, highly recommended.

For $20 less, how does it compare to this? (same 2-year total cost, assume a filter lasts a year and a shark replacement filter costs $20)

Isn't the sound worse for the dog since they are better at picking up higher frequency sounds

They use the HEPA filter in at least 3 models, and the activated carbon sheet in at least 2 models, and is a popular brand, which is to say that there's going to be plenty of availability for a long time, along with cheaper third party filters.

Also, the cleanable mesh screen catches a lot of dust and fur before it gets to the disposable filters. Personally, I vacuum that screen about once a month.

Replacement genuine filter which are filter s model, 2 hepa and 8 carbon is $80 at costco. the air purifier itself is $100 at costco and comes with 2 hepa and 8 carbon filters. $20 more just for the main body.
debating. need the hepa as mine is soon due for change.

i got this last year. don't forget to check your electrical/gas company to see if there's a rebate to make this even sweeter! my company has a $25 rebate. took about a month or so after i applied to get it.

my really old model was great for the first four years on auto or manually setting the speed to just below max. during the quarantining, i had it to always be set at 3 or 4 speed and then it developed a whine that i couldn't fix. that one has been moved to the hallway.
i got $25 last time. don't think you get that rebate everytime.
i think there is a limit one per household so buying a new one again wont qualify

how is this compared to germguardian 6-in-1 large room air purifier with hepa filter deal at costco?

i threw away those tower gen guardian ones. super loud like ac actual noisy fan and looked like ugly like an electric heater. winix ones are superior, clean , neat and quite

We have six, two refurbs from Woot, three from Costco, and one as a replacement for one of hte Costco ones from Winix. As others have said, they are likely to develop a whine; two of ours have done so. But both of these were newly purchased, not the refurbs from Woot.

We also have a Levoit, two Medify MA-25s, and two Airmegas 1512.

1) When they are on sale at Costco, and there is a $50 credit from the energy company, it's hard to beat this, especially with the additional filter. It's cheaper than just buying two filters, and we have one in storage for the eventful breakdown.
2) I like the scheduling feature. We struggled to hook a couple of them up to WiFi but I think that was a signal strength issue. One of ours sometiems struggles to connect, but we've never had the problems others have had.
3) I do NOT like the default PlasmaWave feature that turns on whenever the unit is turned off and on. I never use it, but sometimes if one of our kids accidentally turns it off and back on, the feature will be on for a while.
4) I think the air quality feature is not especially helpful, so leaving it on auto doesn't quite do the job.
5) For heavy duty cleaning, like when I accidentally burned chili powder (it made everyone cough), I think the Airmega is better.
6) However, on a day to day basis, the Winix running at high *not turbo* speed clears almost as much air as the Airmega at full power and is much quieter. That's how we use them most of the time. I've read in several places that you are better off with multiple purifiers at lower speeds than one very large purifier.

I was hoping the filters would go on sale, becasue I'm sick of buying new units and not sure I'm eligible for any more rebates, but this is a good deal.
Filter S for this is $80 at costco. same number of filters as you would get by buying the whole thing new for $20 more. wish the filter came on better deal at costco cos I need the Hepa filters . the rebate is limit one per household i believe thats what it said when i got last time. so no rebate again

Mine developed a whine after about a year. It's still going after over 3 years but the whine is irratating. Filters are a little expensive so wait to buy then on sale for around. One hepa changed every year and 4 carbon overlays changing every 3 months.

I had one that whined and I returned it to Costco. I have 4 others which did not whine though.

Hopefully, I won't be judged for asking this.......I bought at 129.99 on Feb. 5th any slick way of getting adjustment in price. Online only shows you 30 days to get price adjustment. Do I have to do the buy new, return it to save?

The qualifications are entirely dependent on your utility company. To be sure, I went through the eligibility requirements for my service address and checked for which things my account qualified for. You should try checking again. It'd be weird for them to only have a rebate qualify for a household for once in a lifetime vs once per year.

If the warranty expired already, you could open it up and tighten the fan. There's a few YouTube tutorials on the model and how to fix it. One of the simplest I saw was adding soft foam or cloth materials to work as dampeners.
Yeah the process is pretty simple and I did try at least two Youtube tutorials on fixing the problem, but it still exists. I used some loctite and applied as much pressure as I felt it could take before breaking/bending. I think I made it worse actually. When it is lying flat on its back, there's no whining. But when propped upright, the issues then exists.

How do the long-term costs compare to similar Winix or Coway models? I keep one in every room and it would be nice to settle on one model with lower costs for filter replacement simplification

Get a 20" box fan and put a HEPA filter and tap all 4 sides. It is now a air filter and a fan too!

Google the video. It works!

My filter has turn from white to brown. Time to change my filter. It works!
$60 to DIY [reddit.com]
and it's ugly and probably noisy
and time consuming to DIY all over again every time you need to change the filter

that's a PASS from me

It is just a box fan with a filter on it. It is not $60.

Go see countless video on it that it works.

Please dont pass!

Do you leave them on 24x7? Trying to figure if how much electricity it is using. I have five of these running all day.
