Yeah I agree, you pay XYZ for a game and it goes end of life, they should just remove the online verification with a patch. Make it offline only, or better yet open it up for LAN gaming. If they did that they'd likely see a jump in sales after EOL as people pickup multiple copies.
We are a 2 PS4 house (OG & a Pro) and I'd love nothing more than some good'ole offline LAN action. 2p split screen or even 4p on each could make for some great couch co-op parties.
If you haven't played Titanfall 2 you really should. It's from Respawn who made this small free-to-play game called Apex Legends. This has a lot of the same parkour-ish movement, great gun play, and you get to drive a mech around. Really good story, bright and tight ~8 hours. Perfect at $2.

NFS looks like a remake of the Underground series, but I'm concerned when EA turns off the servers we won't be able to play it anymore as it requires an internet connection for verification.
Thanks Op
Oddly I couldn't find Dead Island collection without using your link, if I searched the PS app only Dead Island Definitive EDITION ($19.99) shows up. Then I saw the drop down menu on the page...
Collection is the original
EDITION is the remaster

When is EA supposed to turn off the servers?
That's the thing, we don't know. If I was playing and loving it, then the servers were shutdown I'd be pretty disappointed.
Besides, it means that another game has become unavailable due to Online DRM verification. Metal Gear Survive and Destiny, for example, also require an online verification.
Oh, and Gran Turismo 7 if you're not connected to the internet you only play a demo version of it.
I'm not trying to be pessimistic here, it's sadly how the gaming industry is nowadays and that's sad. :/
Thanks Op

If anyone is curious
Pretty sure the collection just adds dead island riptide. Both of them should be the remastered though
The original dead island doesn't have the best reviews.
Dead island 2 has slightly better reviews and I thought it was decent, definitely a 7-7.5 out of 10.

That said, I'm temped since it's only $2.

The originals were buggy as heck. But, I love them. They are silly and stupid fun. I much prefer the Dead Rising games but these are fun too.
