This appeals to human nature, to go your own way, as in FREEDOM! If good; But doesn't mean you can go your own way and play God. That seat is filled and can't change. I'm just saying confidence is not hubris. We best up our confidence (by practicing well for example) and stop our vanity, in it's tracks. Pride in your performance is not really bad pride (not vain), it is confidence(not toxic vanity), do you see that? Dancing isn't the issue. It's how you do it.
Do ya feel me? Get the drift? Do ya know where I'm coming from? Is that cool? Copacetic? ¿Comprende Hombre? Did ya catch that? So who's a rock star? I just told you.
Ironically, we have premium priced guitars(hey there are buyers), to add most of the positive nuances he collected; but forked, from the Frankie(baby) style. So buying a status symbol, wasting money and adding nothing yourself is kinda opposite land. But if you're going to die before you can spend all your savings then I'm not saying its wrong, or a bad choice at all. You can collect whatever you want.
Everyone is different (and yet the same human race) so no. Everyone will not do this; but I suggest everyone buy a $59 eStratBay, or Tele, or maybe whatever style (but those are your best bets) and while they are arriving typically done, then you work on it yourself, to optimize all the little details, and then optionally customize (color, stripes, nut, whatever) and use that as a base to compare by first. And compare your expensive guitars to that. You know the ones you can't risk taking out of their cases.
Guitars are not like cameras; where the cartel gives you a lots more image quality, etc...(Holding back starter kits?) for jumping up to spending thousands of dollars. Guitars are different. If you get your $59 guitar super setup to your tastes (DIY and YT) then there are precious little differences in a $5000 guitar and a $50 one, other than branding, and options; that you can just as well have on your eStartBay axe for almost nothing (perhaps $50 to $250 for most people; and that's up to you). And remember: Spending more does not automatically get you extra setup tweaking. Unless stated and as included with the deal price. The $59 guitars typically do not even vary as much, usually (due to good return policy per seller) and are arriving, with at least a decent setup (leaving room for your particular choices); when compared to the name-brand, pricey guitars; that mostly arrive with less setup (unless stated INCLUDING pro setup).
What's the old saying? TYPICALLY; Guitars don't get better with price. Electric ones mostly, GENERALLY. Although you can find great, lowest cost Acoustic ($69? $79 AE) too.
Fender?
The secret is Eddie's first guitar (to become Frankie, his baby of mainly the two. Now buried with Darrel, the first original Frankie was just a fender STYLE body(necks changed like clothes); but not even a Fender officially. And the second original Frankie, in The Smithsonian is verified as made from good, light BASSWOOD. Just like the no name eStratBay searched "STUDENT ELECTRIC GUITAR", from its Glarry brand (and other) selling makers. Where misc eBay sellers can not be deal posts here in SD. Just comments. And EVH guitars designs (and others) are now made by Fender, that EVH resells.
Fender and classic guitars are great historically; but Fender (and others) today now work very hard to inflate prices, and limit their lowest cost guitars features, rather than compete honestly. Like charging so much more for signature guitars. "Demand" or us buyers are not necessarily buying better guitars; when they are not better quality. Such as unbiased A/B testing with all brand, and signatures removed. You're welcome to pay for fluff and bragging rights; if you want that. But I take issue for thing like having to pay double just to get the color you want. At this point we should be able to send the color hue we want and get it done for less and delivered immediately too. It would be bad to artificially create shortages for the most popular colors, for example. And I'm not saying signature models can't be fun; I'm saying less marketing department games and more quality, and at a lower, modern mass produced price please.
But there's a vain sucker born everyday and their shills to match them. Suckers gonna suck. Don't be an uninformed buyer. Go by doings, not just the readings. Test everything (good).

I'm gonna need a tldr on this one
Not for an electric. The only thing the type of would effects (very minimally) is sustain. Denser (heavier) wood sustains more. The tone wood myth came from acoustics, where it makes a huge difference. Not at all for electrics.
Eddie named the Wolfgang after his son. He played it for over 20 years before his death. It was first made by Peavey and then Fender, who still make it. Wolfgang Van Halen has his own style signature guitar which isn't on the market yet. It's named after his father.
I somehow only respond now to Gibson, Fender, Epi, Squier, Ibanez, and non-SE PRS's. The SE PRS guitars have horrible QC...insane amount of overspray on the PRS SE Zach Meyers. That thing was a beautiful guitar and felt great but the QC was atrocious for a $800 guitar.
You prefer a squire to a PRs Se? You lost me. Also, you try one guitar and are "put off by the entire line"? That's like saying "I drove a Corolla once and didn't like it, so all Toyotas are garbage".
Negative, this design was inspired by the Ernie Ball Music Man. The guitar was designed to Eddie's specs, this is not Wolfgang's guitar design, it was simply named after him.
There's typically a design philosophy around a company's offerings that transcends the entire line. Your Corolla example might be a bit extreme, but yes, I avoid Kia's as the models that I've experienced have all been trash. So I don't waste time with any of their offerings when cross shopping other cars. I've had great experience with Honda, so I will favor their offerings over another. Get it?
