Looks to be $300 off a similar configuration, however, for whatever reason you can't configure this on apples website.

There's no 14 inch m1 non-pro chip.

It's not just that. The m3 creates a lot more heat. I read the MacBook m3 is throttled to literally 50% with the lid closed and hooked to an external monitor.

That's the MacBook Air which has no fan and the issue is when used in clamshell mode. I saw that and definitely concerning but depends on how and what you use.
