But they did produce rare ouds and bought rare oils from all the world that many like Tom Ford mimic synthetically, while creed uses natural oils that last a very very long time. Another example is Royal Oud, which is amazing for night time. It will last on your skin and shirt well over 48 hours and it's a natural oil, not another synthetic clone. If you interested, DM me, I'll pass along his contact info. He ships all over the world and his collection is insane.

P.S. the GIT under the new ownership changed a bit, you can tell by the cap top which is now in gold as opposed to being all black. The formula is less grassy and the top notes wear off a bit faster, but it's still a great day wear but you do have to sample it, it's not for everyone. The new label will display batch like L3222B01B so you can tell it's 2022 batch.

there are plenty of "inspired by" Creed clones out there that are great (and even better than the original) in performance. ignore all the snobs and naysayers.

I'd wager YSL, Dior, and Chanel fragrances in Parfum concentrations will outperform and outlast Creed. Blue De Chanel lasts me all day and I smell it on my skin in the shower at night. Creed, while I do love the smell, doesn't last until lunch.

I disagree. See above. My creeds lasted longer than dozen others I own including LVs which are sexy AF but don't last. Yes, Dior sauvage will last a veryyy long time, but it's $250 for 3.4oz. YSL Tuxedo for example is $300 and it's super sweet, which is for older dudes imho. None of them are cheap. No one in their right mind would pay retail creed prices unless you're loaded and don't care.

According to Creeds investor release, they sold over 1 million bottles (Aventus) last year and a 4.2 billion dollar valuation. (Roja Parfums, a "niche" brand a vastly superior house has 12.2 million in revenue) So, I'd say that's mainstream. Agree, their older bottles with more aroma naturals smell significantly better, last longer, and have a uniqueness that's not present in todays extremely mass produced batches.

I tried every single Roja out there and didn't like a single scent as I found it to be excessively sweet and also synthetic. But of course to each his own. My nephew swears by Roja and knows Roja Dove, yada yada, but googling which one is more popular doesn't really help as you have to smell em all. Again, this is a very personal choice so no argument can win here other than get what you like

If you pay 250 for sauvage or 300 for YSL its worse.
I paid 160 for 3.4 of Sauvage Elixer last year at Dillard's. That stuff is so long lasting it smells up my closet when its on my dirty laundry. From days before.

Try something unique. Xerjoff, Roja, Nichane, and Parfumes de Marley are in another league when it comes to longevity and performance.

I got elixir for $155 at release time from a reputable source (don't buy it from Amazon for 180 under any circumstances), it's now close to $200 from all reputable sources, prices went up on almost everything

… remember Sauvage comes in variations, elixir being the strongest perfume oil concentration.

If you smell synthetic from Roja and not from Creed then you'd love a Stetson, brute, or maybe a Old Spice.

Original santal is similar to Montblanc Individuel imo. Joop! was also often compared to OS in the past, before Individuel came out. I think Joop! is similar, but a bit of an overkill on how sickly sweet it can be at times, Joop! is hard to wear imo,

Sauvage only has good performance because it's made up of mostly Ambroxan, which if you've never smell it in raw form.. they come as little white pebbles and are very potent, for being a solid. Once diluted with alcohol they become very aromatic, and strong, astringent too. They need other carriers, bergamot is a common oil to mix with. By this point.. it becomes a perfumer's game, who can have the most fun and make the best fragrance, and as you've seen the theme with what we call "blue fragrances". That said.. anyone who buys Sauvage and is knowledgeable about perfume making, is obviously just buying it for the label, branding, or the convenience.It's extremely overpriced for what it is.Ambroxan in bulk is one of the cheapest aromachemicals around, so a bottle of Sauvage, or other blue fragrances, costs literally pennies to make. Unlike Creed's or some other high end brands, that actually put quality ingredients in. Things like ambergris which is still used in Creed scents.

So which perfume with Ambroxan would you recommend at a lower price point than Savage? And will it have the kind of staying power and silage that Sauvage has?
