If you have some mechanical inclination buy the H1 model for $50 less and throw a 9/10 Speed Shimano CUES on it for an extra $70-90.

The h1 has mezzo RD and shifter. Mezzo is mostly plastic like Shimano tourney - lowest of low end.
H2 has Marvo lt RD and shifter. RD is all metal and shifter is different style with metal clamp, not plastic like Shimano alivio. Highest of low end series of components. There should be a noticeable difference in operation and longevity between them.

On paper, with the different component sets and brakes, there should be a noticeable difference between both bikes. For $40, my opinion is the h2 is the better deal here.
Dude it's $40 for a significant improvement in component quality and hydraulic brakes. If $40 is that big of a deal, you may want to just skip this bike altogether and save your money for more important things. Just looking out for you here.

This bike will be used for riding around with my children on mostly paved, flat ground for as long as they're interested in doing so. It might get a decent amount of use or it might get near zero. Believe it or not, people have use-cases for products that don't match your own.

What makes the tires feel cheap? Material? Or just lack of aggressive tread?
They don't feel like rubber, they feel like a slick vinyl. I like the tread pattern. I'm not going to change them at this time.
Another question... How tall are u and what size did u get? Does size feel good?
I'm 6'6" and got an XL, it's smaller than my XL Trek DS3, but works. (I got this one to turn into an e bike).
Are there kits to turn bikes into e-bikes? I basically know nothing about e-bikes
