Lutrons are great for a couple situations in my ~60 year old house - I was able to add 3 way switching to a downstairs hallway light that only has one wired switch - I replaced that switch with a Lutron dimmer, and wall mounted the Pico remote at the top of the stairs so that I can illuminate the staircase from upstairs when heading down in the morning - much more practical than trying to run 3 wire NM-B cable from the downstairs switch to a hard wired 3 way switch at the top of the stairs. The Pico remotes can be wall mounted in an existing switch box, or surface mounted with a wall plate anywhere and appear to anyone as a standard wired wall switch - so they're not just for using as handheld remotes.

I also use Lutron dimmers in light switch boxes where I don't have neutrals, again easier than pulling fresh 3 wire NM-B cable.

Finally I use their fan switches on 6 of the 7 paddle fans in my house, which offer 4 levels of speed control versus the 3 speeds the fans came with.

Additionally, I believe Lutron is the only option available if you want smart 4 way (lights controlled by 3 or more switches) dimming.

I use Lutrons where I need them, but for the rest of my switching, I use TP-Link Kasas, including on/offs, dimmers, 3 way dimmers, and 3 way on/offs (actually I have the 3 way on/offs working with 4 way switching).

The Lutrons and the Kasas are great products IMO - I can't justify the additional cost of the Lutrons though for situations where I have neutral wires. Lutron DOES have a far better "away" mode in their app than TP-Link does, IMO. The Lutron "Smart Away" scene will quickly allow you to specify the time period and switches to include in the scene, while the Kasa (or Tapo) app requires "away" mode time to be specified for each individual switch, which gets tedious (unless I'm missing something or someone knows of a better way to do that).
You're in the wrong thread if this is your level of interest in/understanding of home automation tech. The difference isn't about superficial design or looks, it's about the invisible networking technologies and dimming circuits where Lutron stands head and shoulders above the newcomer mass market vendors. Caseta is their entry level/consumer-oriented system but even this is universally recognized to be more robust than everything else on the market. Have fun buying the cheap stuff!
Lutron switches don't require a neutral wire which I think they have some sort of patent on so they upcharge bc they can. All Kasa switches require a neutral so if you have an older house it won't work unless you put in neutral wiring

How is this compared with buying DVRF-BDG-1D (https://a.co/d/iHbI55i) $80 plus one switch with pico remote at discount? Can't really tell any difference from the description

This is not a TC, but curious isn't this a regular price when the unit price is 69 or something

How's this different from the traditional Lutron casetta with the dimmers that have buttons for on off and up down

Maybe I'm missing something, but I can get at least 6 TP Link Kasa smart dimmers for this price that works with Alexa, Google Home, or Apple Home without the need of a hub. Yeah, I don't get a remote, but that will just get lost anyway, and I can always just use my phone with apps as remote. I don't get why Caseta smart switches cost so much more than Kasa ones.

Lutron's smart switches costs more because they are the most reliable on the market. I've tried 3 or 4 other brands over the last 10 years. They all suck. I wish I'd just paid for the Caseta switches up front. I'd have saved so much time and money.

The Diva dimmers have a more traditional Decora style paddle rocker and dimmer control vs. the old flat push button style of the Casetas. They also have a redesigned on/off called the Claro (neutral wire required) which replaces the Caseta on/off - the Claro is also the more traditional Decora style paddle rocker. There's an update paddle style Pico remote available too, but it looks like the Pico remote in this kit is the old style flat button type. .

I don't think Amazon officially sell these, all listings are third party sellers. If you are already in Caseta system, there's no difference and you can buy these individually when the price is right.
If you are new users, the starter kits are much better.
