How much do you spend monthly on streaming services?

7,866 11,015 March 20, 2024 at 01:59 PM
According to a new study from Deloitte [deloitte.com], U.S. households that subscribe to video-streaming services spend $61 a month on average for four services.

I know we often see streaming service deals shared on Slickdeals, so how much do you spend on services and which ones if so?

Here are mine (including audio as well):
YouTube TV - $73/month
YouTube Premium - $140/year
Spotify Premium - $99/year
Peacock Premium - $20/year
Audible - ~$10/year
Hulu & Disney+ - $3/month
MLS Season Pass - $0/year
Prime Video w/ Ads - $0/year ("free" w/ prime)

Total: $1,181/year or $98/month

Spotify Student Premium - $5/month (Student plan gives free Hulu)
Netflix Standard - $15.49/month (Password sharing fiasco got me kicked off my mom's account) Frown

Total: $245.90/year or $20.49/month

Actually just downgraded my Netflix plan after responding since their 4K library is VERY minimal.

That's crazy.

Peacock $20/year
Hulu $1/month
Apple $0
Paramount+ $0
Max $3/month

Total $5/month or so

Max I'm technically paying for, but it's Google opinion rewards credits that I never spend.

I see you have Prime video listed at $0? How you do that?

$2 month currently for Hulu with Starz promo. May consider other services for 1 or 2 months at a time (most likely Max, Paramount and Netflix) including paying Amazon the $2.99/month for ad-free Prime Video occasionally and picking up PBS Docs and BBC Select when they are on 2 month promos. When I subscribe to a full fledged service like Max or Paramount, I only subscribe to that and watch the stuff I most want to see, then move on to another service. I also happen to have a huge backlog of unwatched DVDs and purchased streaming videos on Amazon and Vudu.

As in it's included with Prime (which I order from too much).

I did use Opinion Rewards to pay for about $50 of youtube premium. Then I bought a google gift card via amazon to get 5% cashback via prime cc. I need to see if I can do that with Youtube TV as well to save even a tad.

I'm not going to get hulu or peacock again - I just never use the services. I only do them cause they're "cheap"

Makes sense. I never shop especially Amazon. It's vortex of consumerism evil. People don't need stuff.

Peacock I'll watch few movies on, shows not so much cause commercials. I can't get website to work with ad block. Hulu I watch decent amount cause ublock Origin works blocking the ads.

Why pay $220 for dish - somewhere where a streaming service like Youtube tv isn't practical for bandwidth?

I have Amazon Prime, that's all. And with the way things are going, I probably won't renew it this year.
I did have HBO Max for a couple months last year.

Hulu - $1 per month
Prime Video - included with Prime membership

I pay about $5 a month for the Discovery+ channel thru Prime, but just for a few months each year. No need to pay for a whole year. I binge watch to get caught up on my favorite shows. The rest of the time I do free trials of channels and can watch everything I'm interested in within a week. My LG TV has free movies, there's Vudu, Crackle, Tubi. Free.

Haven't done it in awhile, but if there are a bunch of new movies I want to see, I just order about 20 from the public library for free. They keep your order at the desk so check out is quick and easy. Plus you get several weeks to watch them.

SPL has a decent movie selection on Hoopla & Kanopy if you have access too, they have reciprocity agreements with most library systems in the area Smilie
