What are you going to do with a gold coin when TSHTF ? Trade it for a sack of potatoes ? More likely it will be taken from your lifeless body.
Buy gold because you like it - just like the Kings and Queens of the past.

A lot of people dislike Charles and his mug on the back side but some are speculating that for this very reason it may limit the overall population of "Chuck" coins and inversely increase the rarity/value of them. Due to his age and health condition, he may be a short lived king with limited mintage.

Not saying it's the same but check out the price of the King Edward VIII gold coin due to his short-lived reign. Or what rarity may do to a coin like King Henry III.

And some others: https://www.physicalgold.com/insi...-valuable/

Welcome to the world of numismatics.

It would be much easier to buy a gold-based ETF. No premium over spot, no storage, easy to sell.

Hmm, I wonder why the world's central banks don't buy gold ETFs?

Nobody cares about manufacturing use. People need an easily stored scarce resource to use as currency, because I have a chicken and need my plumbing fixed, and you're a plumber who doesn't need a chicken but does need wheat. Currency makes these trades much easier and unlike the dollar, it's not easily manipulated.
and in what world commerce will exists for luxuries like plumber calls......and phone networks apparently existing.....while money doesn't lololol

You would buy this to preserve your wealth. Gold is not to get rich, it's to not go broke.

You'd want some precious metals, you'd want some bonds, stock etfs. Maybe some commodity futures. All different asset classes that performs differently than each other.

If the dollar is down, gold is always up and bonds are down. If gold is down, bonds are probably up. If bonds are down, stocks are probably up. You look at one of your hands, it's lost value. You look at your other hand, it's gained value.

No virtually currency though, useless trash.
lol you can definitely can go broke with gold. Ask anyone who bought at Golds record highs then couldn't sell it for decades without going broke

Uh, no. They're buying physical gold, a thousand tons of it a year. Central banks know something you don't.

Yup, greedy foolish bubble chasers get burned. I plan to take profits when gold is $8000. That would be a typical 8x run for gold.

You'll probably be finally jumping in when gold hits $8000. 😆

No western central banks are buying gold in bulk. Only dictatorships and 3rd world gov central banks are. That alone should tell you something, LOL
