So if you are looking for Plex compatibility an N95 or N100 processor is modern and supports hw decode of all the recent codecs for lower cost. If you need raw CPU power this one is over 2x more powerful than the N100 so it would make a perfectly usable desktop task user replacement but not really either for 3D games. It could handle emulated games tho.
This is cheap for reasons other than old hardware...

How does this power box pc compare to an i5 or i7?
Summary at the bottom of this page puts the PC in this deal at about 10% better than the i5-8500t. For me, that's worth saving 75 bucks and having a chance at actual support if something goes wrong. Good luck getting Ace PC to honor a warranty. If they're anything like the other Chinese OEMs that make these under a number of names like Ace magic or Kamrui, it'll likely be a PITA.

14nm vs 7nm. It's a huge difference in cpu performance while costing power.
Random benchmarks show 1.5-2.5x faster depending on benchmark.

And what about running a program like Malwarebytes Premium?

That's much more technical then my understanding but plex has enabled hw transcode on many AMD chips. I have a 5600g which does hw transcode in Unraid. Never did figure it out on any other OS.

This exact computer, why are you looking for an alternative?
There are many codecs this one doesn't support hw on the latest and certain versions of 4k. So if someone is buying new for plex and a low power server a cheaper n95 or n100 is a better fit because it supports all the modern codes in hw and 4k tone mapping.
The services like Netflix and such need to see faster than 60hz 4K video capability, otherwise they downgrade the stream. Will this work? what is the best alternate option (Not interested in Apple TV) ? The Mac Mini Pro is the model that supports for mac, but its way pricy and way overkill to use for browsing and streaming 4k.
Anyone else want to have 4K without signing on to the TV apps and all the BS, and bipass all that, and just use a browser that does all I need?
No video transcode...I doubt you'd find it's performance to be better.
Nope they do not...
