PS.
I hope no ones house burns down.
I feel that Anker is already as generic as I would want to go with charging devices. I know even name brands can malfunction, but I'm still not going more generic than Anker.

Still working for me
No. I found out my sister was using a cheap Apple knockoff and everything has been fine. It straight to looks like an Apple USB C charger but when you hold it you realize it's like half the weight. It was like some garbage you find at a flea market or dollar store.
I agree get something better but the so called experts always act like doomers about everything. I see fire warning reviews for good products too and I question if users hadn't plugged their stuff into a power strip with a heater.
I was researching some parking lot lights for a relative's business and arm chair electricians on Reddit were warning about safety with Chinese no name parking lot lights. Said do not buy on Amazon at all. They were suggesting getting DLC certified lights only that were like 2-3x the cost. I ended up buying the no name ones on Amazon but a little research and found ones that publicly showed or gave their UL number so I could look it up. They work 3+ years later and no fires.
That's not really relevant information. The touch safe temperatures for consumer products is in the range of 50-60c. This is the temp at which is becomes uncomfortable to touch. Less with plastic, more with metal due to conductivity of heat.
However the melt point of abs plastic is about 230-250 and the combustion point for paper is about 250-260.
A hot to the touch charger, while disconcerting, is a far cry from fire hazard.

You're paying for packaging and advertising. The cheap USB cables are going to spontaneously combust into flames and kill your children.
It's all the same crap and all the people saying "but mah Anker is S-TIER quality!"... you know that Anker doesn't actually make portable speakers AND cables AND hubs AND coolers AND power banks AND solar panels, right?
Anker (like many brands) are wholesalers. They work with Chinese factories that are already making these products and do "order runs" where they make 10,000 units with their logo on it.
Now there is some value in that "if Anker is putting their name on it, it's probably pretty good". And that's true... but it's not like their products are made in some Anker magic laboratory. It's the same Chinese factories making literally the same products under all kinds of different brand names.

Amazons silly note is meaningless 😉
When you pick up something this cheap, it's a high chance they are using lower quality products. Lower quality products, when servicing anything electric, means dirty power (fluctuations, inconsistencies), and quite possibly fires and other dangers.
I remember using a cheap lightning cable once and when i plugged it into my phone it SPARKED at the iphone power input. I could see the burn marks on the cable and threw the darn thing out. Thank God it didn't destroy my phone.
Sure - low chance of risk with a lot of these devices, but it's all about risk vs reward!

Not a phone charger but I know someone who bought an off-brand laptop charger that burned his house down. His poor kitty didn't make it out... 😢
