I have an LG B2 with 2x 2.1 ports. 1 will be arc to the sound bar, and the other for my HTPC. I don't have any other uhd devices.
Would there be any issues with this setup? I read comments online that the 990D is superior for this use case, but I don't really understand why I would need the extra 2.1 ports. I have a 4090 and game at 4k
The only thing you will not have with your setup is DTS audio support. Only the 2023 LG OLED models support DTS passthrough through their 2.1 ports. The 990D will give you back DTS support and allow you to retain the 2.1 features, like VRR and 4K 120Hz HDR, if you connect your media device to the soundbar and passthrough to the TV.
Otherwise, if none of that matters to you, then the 990C is fine for your use case.
I suspect if you just bought it a few weeks ago, you can chat customer service and request a price match.
Just testing them out, a complaint with the C model was that it wasn't great a music but with the D they corrected that, so what that trade off the C is a hair better then the D when it comes to movies

Also Samsung TVs do not support any DTS audio streams, nor will it pass thru the stream thru eArc. So to fix this I had to plug my Xbox directly into the soundbar, now I can play all DTS streams. So when I want to game I use another HDMI cable I have connected to the TV and switch to that cable on the Xbox so I get 120Hz since the lack of HDMI 2.1 on the C model. Not a huge issue as I game once in a blue moon these days.
Also of note, all streaming services use a lossy Atmos stream, not a true lossless stream that you get from a Blu-Ray Atmos. I didn't think that mattered until I played Top Gun Maverick on Paramount+ in Atmos, then borrowed the same Blu-Ray from a friend and I could definitely tell a difference and I'm not an audio enthusiast by any means. For reference when streaming an Atmos title the audio bitrate is between 384k-786kbs, Atmos playing from Blu-ray the bitrate is typically 6,000kbps and lossless can have bitrates as high as 18,000kbps. So you can gather from that how much detail is probably lost when streaming Atmos content from a provider versus watching the movie on Disc.
Also be aware to get Atmos from Amazon Prime movies that support it, you have to pay the $2.99 no commercial fee to get Atmos back. You also need the commercial free version of Paramount Plus, and the Ultimate-Adfree version of HBOMAX for Atmos playback.
Finally for what movies to try first if this is your first ATMOS sound system, I'd suggest Top Gun Maverick, duh, Ready Player One the first race scene is incredible, Interstellar, Angel Has Fallen the Drone scene, DUNE part1, and Blade Runner 2049, Black Hawk Down, and Ford Vs Farrai.
For DTS:X Jurassic World either of the movies, Harry Potter Movies, Gladiator (wow), Zombieland Double Tap, The Incredible Hulk.
Oh yeah one more thing for Xbox you have to install the Dolby App and the DTS App to get those audio streams to work, but you don't have to pay anything, the $ charge for these apps is just for those audio streams to play thru headphones!
I'm sneaking mine in while she's out 😀 but still trying to figure out my hiding spot before I get to install and unbox. After installation she won't notice it's there as she can barely tell the difference in these systems. I'm still hiding a Klipsch 14" Sub in clear sight and that's a huge sucker. She still think it's my front towers are rattling the house after I made some "adjustments". 😀
