Any recommendations for a 21 inch gaming monitor? My son needs a new one and insists it needs to be 21 inches

21 inch is not even a standard size. you might have some at 24" but the bulk these days are 27 or 32 for widescreen. ultra wide starts at 34 and up

man crazy how expensive these monitors were when they hit the market i hope the same happens to Oled monitors so i can buy one.

OLED TVs have been around for a few years now, not seeing prices trending downward outside of closeout / clearance deal here and there.

Maybe if you only compare the absolute highest end ones and ignore the panel size. The 65" Sony A1E was $5000 in 2018 or so, maybe went on sale for $4000, the 65" Sony A80 right now is technically superior and costs $2000. Similar for LG, about $3000 to $1500 in the last 5 or 6 years for an equivalent panel. And that's despite inflation.

It wasn't THAT much better in the early days of LCDs, despite much more reason for adoption (coming from huge tubes with huge shipping costs) and better economic conditions. I have an old high end 18" monitor from 2002 that ran for about $800 at new, and a high end 19" in 2006 was about $400. You can also still spend over $1000 for a high end 65" LCD TV right now (Bravia XR, Samsung Q80). But I don't know why you would want to, really.
