That being said, care to link those lighter higher performance laptops at this price you're talking about?
Secondly, all those laptops you mentioned have significantly smaller battery (60Whr-80Whr), except for the ASUS TUF F15 and ROG G16 which have a bigger battery but are lighter in weight, but do you see any deals on those, no and there haven't been any since months. The TUF F15 and Legion are the closest rivals and both of them have significantly inferior processors and iGPU, with the latter having only a 60Whr battery. The 83 Whr battery on this gaming laptop and the price for which it's being sold at ($764 that I originally mentioned) justifies comparatively higher weight enough. Most of the other lighter laptops are $150 or more expensive and certainly are not "comparable in price".
Thirdly, most of the laptops you just randomly name-dropped without knowing about them are not cheap, $1000 is not cheap for the specs those laptops carry. Again, Legion 5 is the only exception and once again, has an older gen processor and smaller battery to reduce the weight.
Fourthly, please explain to us how you're going to charge a 60Whr+ battery with a 45W charger. LMAO. The fact this has a bigger battery wouldn't require you to carry its brick at most times and other laptops you named, along with their brick for their smaller battery would almost equate to this one's weight.
Fifthly, next time please don't try (yet again) too hard to put across a baseless point that you embarrass yourself. Nor does editing your comment make it sound or seem any better or less rude.
If weight is what you care about the most that you are willing to sacrifice performance, battery, etc. then might as well just buy a power brick and carry it around.

(the money saved isn't worth the hassle and multi-week wait) As usual it's easier to trust in what you already know than something new. Given my last comment it seems like people would rather not wait for a better built laptop that has more features, weighs less, and is more stable in the future when they can get something cheap and poorly built now. I guess that's the sentiment that few understand on SD: sometimes value isn't just in the specs.
People will only understand that they get what they pay for when they have to troubleshoot errors with it...
What laptops with similar features and also reliable, would you recommend?
This is honestly the best deal for the specs if you can get all of the discounts on it, especially if you want it as a desktop replacement and are not traveling. The only thing I can say is to wait, but if you can't and are tech-savvy then the potential software issues are fixable.
I just hope Dell has improved their quality since when I bought it. Maybe the warranty will help cover that? It's going to be a while before something with a good build is available at this low of a price.
If you can spend $850 instead of $700 though, there's always the eBay Legion 5. It should have better cooling and will feel sturdier, but you also pay for it. If you want something more portable at the same price, there's always the ROG G14 (recently expired), but that has a slightly weaker GPU. Both are much more well-rounded as do-it-all laptops with better IO, premium materials, and more features instead of strictly desktop replacements like this one is.
One website you can check is gaminglaptop.deals, they have all of the discounted laptops on there, but don't include special offers like on SD. As you can see, there's only a few on sale right now...

Can you pls explain why you suggest waiting? Are we expecting new gen procs or cards?
I suggest waiting because there are other laptops on the laptops with more features that make them worth buying over this. The two examples I gave are both higher quality machines with special characteristics to them. (e.g. Alienware M-series compared to Dell G is like Lenovo Legion compared to Lenovo LOQ or Asus ROG compared to Asus TUF)
The Legion 5 is a classic known for their great cooling, reliable components, and good software meaning your laptop should last very long. The only downside is the weaker battery and CPU, but it also has a 1440p screen, e-shutter, and USB-PD.
The G14 is much more portable and lightweight than this at 3.8 lbs, (Most 15 inch laptops are) and has aluminum on the body whereas this is just plastic. It also has a 1440p 16:10 display, micro USB slot, USB-PD, windows hello login, and potentially the AniMe matrix. Of course it's CPU is also a gen behind but that's a minor tradeoff given how small it is.
Jarrod from Jarrod's Tech said we would not be getting new processors this year so you might be waiting a while. Again, if you only want to use this for desktop use, this is a great deal with AMEX.

Thanks, I finally pulled the trigger on G15 (have AMEX, and weight is no-issue). I was hoping to get one with a thunderbolt port for possibility of using EGPUs in the future, but this should last for 3-4 years for me and we don't know what will be available at that time
I've had a G15 5525 and I've also had this 5535 for a few months and never had a BSOD so far.

Now I just need to purchase a larger SSD to add and a couple of 16s to get it up to 32. Wouldn't mind seeing people making suggestions. I'll probably go with Crucial.
