Good pictures start with clarity. Just make sure your shuttle speed is fast enough to capture a clear picture. Next, focus on the eyes. Otherwise, the pictures on the phone are not even close to these cameras. Most important lesson learned, post processing with Lightroom is a must. Professional photographers will not tell you that, but post processing is almost a necessity.

Is this any good for low light?

The included lens is slow. You'll want a fast prime for indoor and low light.

Thanks. She'd have to learn. We have iPhone SE 3rd gen and our friends with androids have 10x better quality photos and you just point and shoot. That's what I'm hoping to achieve

This will shoot better than your 3rd Gen iPhone SE. However, the learning curve may be steep. When mastered you'll get fantastic photos and videos.

An iPhone 15 Pro will probably blow this camera out of the water when handled by someone just starting to learn photography, but it'll cost you substantially more.

However, if you're looking to take photos of kids for years to come, the return on investment may be justified, as it'll be readily available when needed. It shoots excellent quality photos and you can adjust a lot in post production on your phone.

(Before Android folks get upset, I am simply suggesting iPhone 15 Pro because they're already on an iPhone now. For the record, high-end Android phones also have badass cameras and photo and video capabilities also.)
