And that's why Apple is being sued by the US with several state backing. Apple purposely hinder competing 3rd party hardware/software to make you buy or use their products by lessening the functionality of the 3rd party product/software.
This sux for the consumer because you're forced into buying a certain product. This Samsung watch could be a great watch but you'll never know if you're an Apple user. In my case I carry both an Apple and Samsung phone because of iMessage.
Sorta . . . for a while. Apple shuts down apps that support hardware competing with their watches. The watch will still run but the iPhone will shut down the software on the phone that supports the watch.
No way. Apple is a monopoly - they were forced to go to usb c - Apple will do everything to not be compatible with anything not made by them.

Can someone recommend good step counter or smartwatch maybe for android or iOS? I have iPhone but do not wear a watch for example so even a basic bracelet that reports to app will do. And another one for android (Pixel 6) that can be a full blown watch or basic as above.

Any cheap simple watch can be a good step counter, for off brand maybe Fit Bit then.
Bought three (3) and they arrived as legitimately packaged, new in box devices.
I expect that most resellers are simply performing some arbitrage as I understand these to have been highly discounted in their associated markets (going for €40 or less). Other than having to set the initial language from Spanish (Idioma) and English (US) being about third down the list there really wasn't any other speed bump in the setup.
I'll be setting one up for the wife, and should everything perform well enough I'll give the other two as gifts to the in-laws to replace some abandonware Amazon Halo watches they've been using as basic step counters. As they're all in the Samsung ecosystem, I'm hopeful these prove workable companions to their phones.
Can't be any worse than their Halo bands, which demand constant monitoring of the charge state lest they lose their clock.
I love mine. It came with 75% battery and I used it for five days till it dropped to 15%.
Both white and pink are now $55, if you choose woot as the seller.

This has been the price via third party seller woot! since the original deal posted.
Very interesting to have woot! as a third party seller on Amazon. Third parties typically sell through woot! and benefit from having woot! hide the identity of the third party seller whereas historically Amazon had clearly identified third party sales. Now Amazon offers this service directly on Amazon using the woot brand(?). And as has become the case on woot.com, the sales are not shipped through Prime so will lack the free/no-fee returns policy.
Despite all this I personally ordered through the woot seller store given the lower price. I was purchasing multiple units (buying for family) and gambled that I was simply getting someone's arbitrage sale and not excess/seconds or some other junk sale.
Just got mine today, took a while but so worth it. Had a gear fit 2 pro for years then to the galaxy watch 6, this is the best of both worlds, looks great works perfect with S24+ and for only $60 it is a must buy. Just dont understand why not sold it US, thank God for SD or I wouldnt have know it existed.

Just got mine today, it was new and perfect, got the white.
No NFC support here bud. It can't do contactless payment.
That's a bummer. I love paying with my old Fitbit Versa 2 and it's like 4 years old.
Thanks, ordered black, but still hasnt shipped.
If you carry the phone with you, it can use the phone's GPS.
