Includes DIRAC LIVE room correction!

Here's the best guide I've come across on how to use Dirac:

https://youtu.be/gjWZUZ1MeDg?si=ekB0wuiKmpx9sdTW

And Dirac Live does manage bass. According to Dirac Support:
"Yes, standard Dirac Live has always corrected the subwoofer response, taking advantage of the AVR's Bass Management."

PERFECT farkING TIMING! Was about to buy used earlier. Thanks OP!
Perfect timing is right. I've been piecing together my home theater and needed a solid 9.2 receiver. Was contemplating this vs the RZ50. For my purposes the RZ50 is overkill and the 7100 is much less in price. Thanks OP! Purchased!

Pioneer LX305 isn't plagued by the HDMI issues that the NR7100 has that Onkyo still hasn't addressed.

305 definitely has issues. If you have an Nvidia Shield or Firestick plugged in, you get signal dropouts. Only way to stop it is to plug the device unit he TV

Me too. The RZ-50. That's an amazing Amp though and only regret that I bought during the AVR scarcity back in early 2022 for $1200 and thought that was a great deal back then. However, I didn't hook it up till late 2023 sticking with my old Yamaha Avantage receiver thinking I was okay till I had time to hook up the Onkyo. When I finally did, oh man, I was really missing out all that time. The sound is so much crisper, clearer and with more body. I was always skeptical that an AVR would make such a difference but in this case it does, and I haven't even dialed it in as yet. I just added 2 more Atmos speakers to my existing 5.2.2 to make it a 5.2.4 but added so much more life to my front 3 speakers as well. I suspect, based on the specs of this 7100, it would have done the same at now half the price.

For those who can take advantage of this deal I envy you, but I love my RZ-50, especially since I've now gone 11 channels using the pre-outs. Not sure if the extra 20 watts per channel really make that much of a difference.

How's it going. Hey I'm thinking of making you the switch from an older aventage 3060 to a Onkyo rz50 myself right now. If you don't mind me asking, what aventage did you switch from? I was afraid there was a chance I'm wasting my money because I want Dirac so bad. But you make it sound like it's worth it even before calibration.

That's the very same Avantage I upgraded from, mainly to get the extra 4 channels. I was on the fence like yourself due to cost at the time and if it would really be a significant upgrade. However, after l
seeing so many glowing reviews and getting a $300 discount from $1500 (MSRP at the time) to $1200 I bit but didn't connect it up for over a year, stupid, right?

Life and near death to Covid intervened and losing family during the time was the main reason for delay setting up the new AVR but when I did I thought it was worth the wait, and that was just a quick setup with Dirac. I still haven't fully dialed it in as yet but what I've heard so far let's me feel this is my end game AVR.

Maybe if it were now, with the NR7100 being under $600 at times, I'd go with the 7100 since it's almost the same Receiver with no pre-outs so limited to 9 channels, and a little less power. But with the RZ-50 under $1K now, I'd choose the RZ-50 and don't look back.

I still have my Yamaha 3060 and very reluctant to part with it as I'm thinking of using it in another setup or use it for the extra 2 channels for the pre-outs on the RZ-50.

I am not saying it's a night and day difference the RZ-50 is over the 3060, but for me it's a good 20% difference, and in audio I think that's a lot. It gives a fuller, crisper sound over the 3060 with a slightly more solid upper bass and fuller midrange. IMHO, I think you should try it if it's still on sale below $1K and see for yourself. Warning though, if you like it, it may send you down the rabbit hole of getting better speakers as you're tempted to see what this Receiver can do. I upgraded from the Klipsch Reference series to the Reference Premier speakers and now even my wife can't resist listening to music with me and does say how much nicer it sounds over the older system.

Let me know what you think if you do the upgrade as sound is so subjective.

Worth the upgrade from Denon 2700H? I'm looking to goo from 7.2 to 9.2 and mainly use it from PC (RTX 4090) to eARC

This is my stop for now. Had a refurbished Denon X1700 that kept having network issues. I was still within the return period and sent that one back. I was between this and the RZ-50 but this is about half the cost. While I may eventually do more channels or want the pre outs, there's a long way to there from here. Which for me is a 3.1 about to go to a 5.1. Looking forward to getting this in and hopefully enjoying it till the next upgrade.

The Pioneer LX-305 is way better than this piece of junk. The HDMI issues that plague the 7100 have yet to be addressed by Onkyo as of this comment.

I don't get signal dropouts at all with my shield or Apple TV 4K. It's fantastic. Why bother trolling?

Got one. Running a 7.2.2 system and it sounds fantastic. Big upgrade over the tired 15 yr old Pioneer it replaced (running 7.1).

Has a super annoying quirk though - if you are watching a DVD and have the input set to DVD and pause for any more than 5 seconds, it will switch the input back to TV. It is apparently a known issue that has existed for years and on previous models. If anyone knows of a fix, I'd love to hear it.

I'm not, I was in another thread 2 months ago and people were having the same issues I was, online forums also illustrates the same issues. To this day still have same issues. Read the other day that if you plug them into input 1 or 2, the issue goes away but haven't tried it, currently plugged into input 4

Can anyone who owns this tell me how warm/hot it gets? Does it heat up the room?

I ordered the scratch and dent for $400 which came out to $460 after shipping and taxes. Upgrading a not too old onkyo 787 with accuEQ but Dirac live has me intrigued.

Would you still recommend this receiver even with the glitches? Or should I hold off and get something else?

Did you get it yet? Still on the fence given some have major glitches while some have no issues. I just want to try out atmos and direc and this seems like the perfect budget way to do it. I don't even know if you could easily return to Adorama without having to pay shipping back.
