I reset everything from Apple TV, to receiver to TV and still had the issues. After replacing all my HDMI cables, I borrowed a friends receiver and the issues went away. So I decided to buy a new one. Probably could have repaired it, but figured it made more sense to upgrade with a good adorama sale.
Received mine in pristine condition. Some manufacturers double box. Mostly HIGHER end equipment.
In the end I was offered $25 back.. I was hoping for about $100. I'll likely just have them send me a new one, kind of disappointing.
Edit: Factory reset resolved the menu issue.
Same exact thing Happened to me. The main menu went away. had to reset by holding down both cbl/sat and strm box buttons down for about 5 sec. I spent 3 hours today trying to program Dirac live using iPhone app - Onkyo Controller. Unable to calibrate using the app , kept telling me to turn up/down volume. So frustrating. Tried using desktop version and kept failing due to background noise. I don't have anything running but my aquarium but it is extremely quiet. Unless Dirac requires absolutely NO noise in the house , which I think is impossible. Any thoughts ..?

I agree. Demo videos from AA and Emotiva were helpful in understanding what is needed for Dirac. I too got errors while attempting Dirac at night (ambient noise). Only refrigerator was ON. But when I tried to setup in the morning everything worked as normal. I must say, all the effort was definitely worth it as it sounds much balanced with 10dB harman curve filter. Happy with the result.
You are much better off with what you have imho.
No get a high level Marantz. You waited all that timeā¦. you deserve it!
My only complaints are:
1.-Gen 1 of Klipsch RP series are not shown inside the Speaker Combo list so I had to use "Other" as my speaker models.
2.-Every so often I get a clicking sound on my speakers when I change from Music to TV or vice versa, and also you can hear the relays inside clicking as well when changing audio modes, hopefully it is not a problem? (it's my first AVR so not sure if this is normal)

Let us know what kind of sound you like for music, more laid back, more in your face. Are you a jamin rock person or more a smooth jazz person,. are you only listening to movies on this or music as well and if so, how much percentace of music.
Do you sit and just listen to music or is it background for parties etc. all that matters.
Then we can point you in a direction but you will need to listen to different speakers to make your final choice. We all hear different frequencies better or worse than others so speakers are very subjective. Cheers!
