I bought Brunswick sardines and then Beachcliff sardines through SD deals recently. I love sardines, but the Beachcliff ones are terrible in comparison to the Brunswick ones.

Why does it say sardines on the can? Not doubting you, but I dunno how anyone is supposed to tell the difference.
Look at the ingredients, Sprats is the first one listed, no sardines.

Why is soybean oil so bad? Just curious. How about peanut oil, canola oil or corn oil from Costco? Thanks.

Poor quality. I bought these the last time I saw them on SD. After eating one can, I threw the rest away.

After doing a lot of research on the matter, reading though a bunch of published studies(from a variety of countries and years), I'm avoiding all seed oils.

Fruit oils like olive, coconut, avocado, and palm are fine, provided that they're not refined. (Look for extra virgin or cold pressed)

Furthermore, saturated fats like butter, tallow, ghee, suet are healthy to consume.

There is evidence that seed oils cause many "modern" chronic diseases(such as heart disease, arthritis, diabetes, fatty liver), lower energy levels, weight gain, and general inflammation.

I would encourage you to do your own research and come to your own conclusions.

Inflammatory. Costco sardines in water.

Agreed.

Costco also has some very good canned smoked sardines in extra virgin olive oil, if you prefer oil to water. Wild planet wild Pacific sardines.

I just want to say I see this type of comment every now and then and I don't know if you actually threw the unopened items in the trash. But it would be better to keep them in case of an emergency or donate them. No use wasting perfectly fine food and throwing away money.

High concentration of phytoestrogens, chemicals which aren't quite estrogen but body can interpret as such (although only in large quantities). Some believe that very high exposure during developmental years is one of the primary causes of the sudden increase in sexual disorders. In essence, you're consuming hormones and that can have all kinds of unintended effects. Like with all things though, dosage matters, so if you're just dipping your Chick-Fil-A nuggets in their sauce, yes you are getting some, but so little it doesn't matter. If you are constantly consuming soy products, especially concentrated ones like soy oils, then you're at risk.

How about tofu and soy sauce? They are made of soy too. Since east Asian consume a lot of these, do they suffer from these kind of soy products?

Wild Planet sardines taste very bad. Mushy and fishy. I like 'Season' brand from Costco better. Haven't tried the other brands.

Yes, but again quantity matters. Phytoestrogens do work just like estrogen in the body, but weakly.

With soy sauce, its mostly a salt brine, and you dip only tiny quantities of it on your food. You'd probably die from massive salt intake before you had any issues with estrogen.

But if you're a vegan and you've decided to make soy products your primary protein replacement, and use concentrated soy like soybean oils, then yeah probably going to notice some issues. For example, in one extreme case there was a guy in Texas that not only developed breasts but even began lactating and had erectile dysfunction, and they couldn't figure out what was wrong with him. Finally they started questioning his diet and found out he was drinking THREE QUARTS of soy milk per day, and the phytoestrogens were crazy high in his system leading him to develop feminine characteristics.

For developing teens where hormones can have a big effect on development, I'd personally just stay away from concentrated stuff like soybean oil at least. Otherwise, just use moderation, like eating seafood is fine but don't just don't eat nothing but stingray and shark for years and you won't have to worry about mercury poisoning.
