I had Dewalt (Or Stanley, they all look similar) branded one of this I think it's same thing, charges with microUSB. The battery was non replaceable, it died and swole up. I bought a different one that works with 2 AAA instead. I suggest you do the same.

Probably you. The yard and foot are defined as metric units. International yard and pound defines the yard as exactly 0.9144 meters and the pound as exactly 0.45359237 kilograms.

Prexiso P40T, pretty handy, but I think any laser measure with AAA batteries will be better than rechargeable ones. I paid $22.

That's great, until an AA/AAA leaks and kills it anyway. That's what happened to my Bosch 🙁

Use NIMH AAs because they don't have a tendency to leak.

You can often clean them out, scrape off all the crud and then hit the contacts with some deoxit, even on the circuit board. My Bosch GLM-55 went through the wash. I put it in rice for 2 weeks, which didn't get all the water out. Opened it, dried it, and cleaned it w deoxit. Works again like it always has.

But I agree. Nimh batteries like eneloop and ebl are the way to go.

Fair point but I never leave batteries in stuff I don't use a lot

Not in this case... the leak found its way to the PCB and destroyed traces on it. It's partially working, but several of the buttons won't function now so it's kind of worthless (even after having gone in and performed some restoration/surgery on it)

55' range is pretty atrocious, you can buy a no name brand china unit with memory/pathagorean theorem etc that will go way further indoors for less than this. I had and lost a 50m unit that was great, I ended up getting a Hilti from work or I'd have bought another and would definitely buy any generic 50m china unit over this thing. 50m is about 165'.
