Yeah if anybody could chime in about quality on these. I'd love to find a good rod for backpacking.

Tried to find legitimate reviews on this rod on fishing aficionado sites and no one seems to mention this brand.

Meh, you could probably get a better performing and equivalent compact rod/reel by buying a 2 piece rod.

I need a rod for travelling. All of my rods are single piece rods and I don't want to buy $100+ each on new two piece rods just to travel with so I grabbed the 7' spinning and 7' casting rod. If it breaks that then gives me an excuse to get the more expensive rods.

Kastking are found on temu as well. I haven't bought this brand specifically but had purchased two Chinese telly rods and the rings are terrible quality. It's all cheap plastic made rings and can be easily bent with a pinky force 😂

I would go temu to read the reviews there, if you dare even trust it's reviewers anyways 🤷 ♂️

Edit another thing to consider, the very tip with most of these chinese telly, it's all super sensitive as well. Super flexible. Just a heads up

I have no idea on the reels, I tend to buy more expensive reels as cheap ones feel like crap imo.

I have a kastking collapsible rod though and it works just fine. I mean it's a 30 dollar rod... So shouldn't be expecting something amazing but it works fine, can throw in back pack or trunk and go fishing whenever you want.

Rod is worth the 20 to 30 imo.

i decided to bite on this telescoping rod at BJ's. https://www.bjs.com/product/maste...0002421325

the rod itself is decent. Lightweight, small. holds its shape when extended. The reel is pretty trash. Its got about 4 drag settings. either way to high, or way to low. It can cast really well though and its worth its price. I plan to use it in small streams when i go hiking. Basically just to drop a small jig on a bobber and float or a rooster tail on it.

main reason for buying this one, is that most places i would fish would be in brush and under trees. I didnt want a 7ft rod fully extended.

I have 2 for traveling. They pack well and have flown cross country multiple times. Spinning and casting is what i got 8mo ago. They are compact and work as intended. You won't win a tournament with them, but it is a $20 telescoping rod. I did catch a 7pound 3oz largemouth on it and it was fine.

I bought the 5'6" light model.

Took it to the Bahamas while on cruise with a size 25 pflueger president with 10 lb braid.

Caught a small jack crevalle and some other fish off the docks.

I normally freshwater fish.

I also got a kastking valient in 5'6" which is more moderate action.

This compass is less moderate but still light.

Worked pretty well imo for travel fishing or just keeping in your car for when opportunity strikes!

How light did it feel in person? It was it on the heavy side?
