Seiko owns Orient. The Orient movement is an in-house movement meaning they make their own. I prefer Orient over Seiko the second hand just seems a little smoother. The only drawback with the Orient is the bezel sucks and it's hard to turn. But, you can buy aftermarket bezels and bezel inserts. There's a company on Long Island that can help you with modifying watches the owner's name is Marc. If you get the watch take that awful strap off and get an FKM strap.
Orient is now what seiko was years ago. A great entry level watch with great bang for the buck.
Highly highly recommend but change the watch band!!!
I wear this watch hard and notice zero scratches on the glass but some paint being worn off the bezel.
So you get essentially the same model (possibly with a different SKU or minor differences) at what can be a steep discount, at the expense of manufacturer warranty and/or customer service. I've bought several watches through JS without issue, but I know I'm assuming some risk.
