I own both. They feel similar performance wise but the onn has a better remote plus 4k.
I love having one to bring on trips: usually you can plug them into your hotel room TV and then register them on the hotel's wifi network so that you aren't subject to whatever nonsense TV selection they have.
Fire stick used to be good, now it's terrible. Slow and filled with wayyy too many ads.

What's the best spec'ed (performance wise) Android/Google TV stick lately (doesn't have to be cheap) ?
I have a bunch of TivoStream 4Ks and GoogleTV things like this (including 4K). They're great to sideload SmartTube etc., but when it comes to compare with the AppleTV (which also I have on the receiver), the performance difference for any operations (including Cast vs Airplay latency) is just too obvious and kind of painful. Some beefy HW would be great relief.
Prefer the stick/dongle form factor because easier to throw in a bag to travel vs a box/Nvidia Shield etc.

I'm wondering if the 4k version of this is faster or something, because mine flys. Especially compared to the stock OS on my TV.

EDIT: Yeah the 4k version of this has more RAM and more processing power.

Which is perfect if you don't have a 4k TV. You can run it at 1080 P with better performance.
well thats $50

The newest Firestick is pretty fast, but Amazon is starting to tighten up their flexibility. That is what I would buy if you want performance and price. The Fire Cube is good too. I personally have it and my daughter has the newest stick. They both work great. Moving forward I will be buying Android or Google units to maintain a more customization. The Shield is still the best thing out there.

4K Onn is $20 and works great. My dog chewed on the remote, still works but decided to get another whole unit rather than looking for a replacement remote. Can keep one hooked up in the camper and not have to steal it from the livingroom now.

Like posted above you can sideload a different launcher and get rid of all the things Google thinks you have to have.

Got one of the ONN 4K's the other day and really enjoy it. Waiting for that new "Pro" unit this year for more.

Correct me if I'm wrong but there's no Xfinity App for Google TV. I can watch cable without a box on my Roku and Fire Stick but not this.

Fire stick max is NOT fast. It's laggy. We have 2.

Nvidia Shield Pro is fast.

Totally depends on the hotel but they are usually reachable. The issues come when the hotels have the TVs locked onto their proprietary infotainment systems, thus not allowing switching to other HDMI ports, even if the TV has them available.

I would buy one just for security. We do use Netflix to keep the kids busy when we're busy and I'm always worried about forgetting to log out! 😂

Not all hotels have Disney+.

This would be worth it!

I got two of these and really liked the simple interface but had to switch back to Fire TV with the 4K Max. The 4GB on these and RAM aren't enough. It crashes often.
Have you tried Roku? No memory issues ever for me. I think they don't store the apps on the device or something because I have about 40 apps and never once had a memory issue. I also like that I'm not force fed Amazon content. Menus are really nice and easy to use, even for visitors.
I keep my old Fire TV stick for Kodi but that's about all I use it for.

I actually really like the simple remote that comes with these but they're not very durable. Buttons start to stick after a few months of normal use. There's a few Youtube vids that show how to repair them but it's just a temporary fix. Fortunately I have a bunch of extra ones from the old Chromecast/Netflix dealSmilie
