also this price is really 19 bucks and change, and gets to 16.99 via the 11% rebate which is Menards store credit. again not a bad deal if you are a Menards shopper and will use the rebate another time

that the rebate is "in the form of a merchandise credit check" and that it is "valid on future in-store purchases only". Seems pretty clear to me. I would obviously prefer a check which could be deposited as cash but those aren't the term of sale.
I actually have an accounting background and there are other instances of rebates being in the form of credit on other purchases made.
It's not possible to get the price advertised after rebate because it's not a traditional rebate, it's only on a future purchase as a coupon off certain items, and you even pay postage to receive it.
It's actually identical to "Kohl's Cash" or similar (without postage) but you never see Kohl's subtracting a future earned Kohl's cash from the advertised price, and they certainly don't call it a rebate and interchange it as if it's US dollars.
Far worse class actions out there than this would be. It's the definition of deceptive advertising. Harbor Freight got royally rolled compared to this, they were caught "deceiving" us by not leaving their prices high enough, long enough. Basically the sales were too often to justify the advertised savings over full price. They nearly went bankrupt over that. Now compare to what Menards is doing!

As to the comment about once in a lifetime, let's be realistic. Every retailer is marketing toward repeat customers. Other than maybe buying their own casket, who only goes to a place to buy something once in their life?
Regarding postage, while I would like Menards to have online submissions, they clearly aren't the only company requiring physical submissions. I buy the free-after-rewards Office Depot batteries (after price matching Amazon) and then use the rewards to buy forever stamps. So either the stamps or batteries are free depending on your perspective.
Menards could definitely make it easier on us but at least they did change and allow all rebates in one form and envelope. I recall the pain from early Black Friday deals where rebates required cutting out UPC code labels, separate submissions, etc.

Sale ended last Sunday.
Me too. If only it weren't stuck in perpetual shipping hell
I wish we had 5-20 in our local. Only 0-something and 5-30. Had to order the 20 online
And I must agree to disagree with you sir. I would never let my oil go $5,000 mi. You're taking a car that is where several thousand dollars and stretching you frugality down to $5,000 mi for $30?
I use Pennzoil oil but I don't use this. I use their gas to liquid formulated Pennzoil ultra Platinum which costs about 28 per 5 quarts and with my $12 filter I'm up at $40 and I'm going to blow your mind. Here I change my oil every thousand miles for the first 5,000 mi of engine life to remove all the sub 30 micron metal shavings that get thrown into suspension, bypass your bypass valve and pass straight through your filter media.
In other words, don't be cheap by Pennzoil ultra Platinum and change your oil every 2,000 mi .. good Lord..."thecarcarenut" goes on ad infinitum on how Toyota needs to change all their manuals cuz I believe they have $6,000 on some of the light duty intervals and that's just not going to do it. You've got to change your oil filter at least once every 6 months to a year, especially if you're using a cellulosic media without a wire back mesh. For whomever said, I'd like to buy it for cheaper. Come on $4 per quart don't be insane. It's probably the same methane to petroleum backwards gas to liquid construction oil base with a different additive package in it.
People are so cheap on this site. CHEAP... If you bought the Pennzoil ultra Platinum and changed it out at 3,000 mi sure it's $10 more per 5 quarts is $2 more a quart but you get the most advanced protection and iraase motorcycles and I only use Pennzoil ultra Platinum in my vehicles and Bikes.... You know you can use glycerin as well. It may be a bit viscous but I think it's less than $4 a quart.
Shoot a little Dawn dishwashing soap in there and a little molybdenum and zinc boom you got your additive package
Change your oil every 2000 miles? Good lord
