Just bought the laptop. Yes, it does charge over the usb-c port, as you would expect for thunderbolt. Not too much bloat on the windows install. Just mcafee and myasus (if you count myasus as bloat). Connected to my triple monitor setup via docking stations seamlessly. Speakers sound pretty decent. Can't comment on hinge quality cause don't know how to assess that.
Cons
1. Heavy – Especially compared to my dell Inspiron 13 5310 (I know that's a slightly smaller laptop but still the weight difference is massive)
2. Only 1 thunderbolt 4 port
3. Touchscreen not the greatest imo. I was trying to read a manga by swiping using the touchscreen and so many missed swipes. Unusable for swiping to read manga like an iPad (let me know if there is a fix for this)

Overall, very few laptops at this price point come with thunderbolt, which I need to connect to my monitors. So even though I am dis-appointed with the touchscreen, I plan to keep it.
What if MS allowed you to switch out of S and into Windows 11 Home for free and it took less than 30 seconds?

I haven't ran any benchmark testing since im primarily looking for better battery life.
And until you mentioned it, I didn't realize this unit does not have a SD slot!

For those of you with experience with 12 gen Intel processor, how much better is this processor compared to an 11th gen? The reason I ask is im looking at a ThinkPad sold at Costco which has an 11th gen processor:

https://www.costco.com/lenovo-thi...86794.html

Any thoughts on which one is a better laptop?
The lenovo has non upgradable ram and a cpu that's about 30% slower but likely better battery life.

However the Xe iGPU is a little faster. It also has 4x the SSD size. Also have a microSD slot and a fingerprint reader as well as two usb-c with DP and PD as well as two usb 3.1. All for $150 more than the asus

If you don't mind paying $150 more and has no need to ever go beyond 16GB ram, then the lenovo might better.

The official ram upgrade spec is all crap. The actual supported is basically whatever cpu will support according to intel spec which is up to 64GB for this cpu. But there is only one sodimm slot so you can only add a 32GB to make it a total of 36GB.
Bought the laptop, and replaced the 4GB module with 16GB , for a total of 20GB RAM.

Should be good for my requirements. Thank you.

I really appreciate your input.
So going from 8th gen Intel laptop to an 11th gen should be pretty significant, would you agree?

The improvement going from 8th to 11th is not as much as going from 11th gen to 12th gen. There's more to a laptop than just a cpu. the peripheral and connectivity are also important

I am still using 8th gen i5 dell 5400 as my work laptop. The i5-8365u cpu is fast enough (it's a bit faster than the i7-2600k). The only thing i don't like is that it only have HDMI 1.4 instead of 2.0. But it does have usb-c TB3 with PD and DP and 3 usb 3.1 and ethernet port and microSD.

Make sense. I honestly didn't realize how much I depend on a microsd slot until I started using this Asus that doesn't have one!

I purchased one for a new employee at my place of business. I dropped a 16gb stick in it for a total of 20gb. So yeah, 12gb or 20gb is fairly simple.

Which RAm did you buy? I want to buy one for mine.

Also avail on ebay for less than $250.

This laptop for $250 or less is definitely a steal!. I just wish that it has a microsd slot. which would've made it perfect... lol.

Yes, the battery time is a bit crappy, but we didn't complain that much when we bought the motile back then... This laptop is only lacking the microsd slot, one usb 3.1 and one LAN port , one pcie and 1 lb more compared to motile, but you get a better ips screen with touch, a TB4 port, and a significantly faster cpu....
