Dirac when not fettered can be really great, but I hate their business model, esp. the non-portable licenses and inconsistent availability of features. Selling high end room EQ with a big void that can't be filled? Silly, and bad for users.
Onkyo NR7100. I opted for that deal vs the LX305 for the ability to set individual crossovers alone.

Yes Dirac Live will see your sub and calculate it into the mix based on your settings of it.
It will also let you make manual adjustments as you pointed out.

What Dirac Live doesn't do is make any bass adjustments with their own filters, DLBC gives you those calculations.

This is directly from Dirac's users manual which is universal. It explains what each of their three RC's offer/do(page 32).

"Dirac Live: The filter design page is presented without Bass Control features and filters are calculated without any form of bass management.

Bass Management: Dirac Live filters are designed such that each subwoofer in the arrangement contributes equally to matching the drawn target curve. A system with 1 subwoofer will adjust this subwoofer so that it matches the curve, while a system with 2 or more subwoofers will scale the volume (or gain) of each subwoofer so that they collectively add up to provide the drawn response. However, it will not consider any destructive interference between the speakers.

Bass Control: Dirac Live filters harmonize the subwoofers and non-subwoofer speakers in the lower frequencies using tailor-made phase filters, delays, and gains." https://www.dirac.com/wp-content/...pdf#page24

That video I posted explains this pretty well and even shows what it looks like.

Awesome, thank you for the information! 🍻

Thank you!

It's actually the email promo link. There is something you can add to the end of Adorama links to get the email price to show up, but I keep forgetting it

This or the 505? Seems the extra $130 is worth going with 505, especially for preouts

Where is the 505 available for only $150 more?

Can this pass sound/video through to a powered sound bar when powered off?

I have heard you can reach out to them and some people have gotten their licenses ported

Personally, I have no issue with their offerings at the lower price points of the Onkyo/Pioneer products
IMO...there is no other RC system at these price points...even with Dirac " limited" that sounds better

This coming from someone who owns both Arcam units with the full suite and an Onkyo RZ50 with the limited Dirac suite

For its price point, I dont think you can touch the Onkyo

The Onkyo RZ50 still spanks my Marantz 7015, with Audsyssey Xt32 ,all day long for movies

Bundled Dirac doesn't include Live Bass Control. Which is fine in some rooms and a dealbreaker in others, esp. if your sub placement is dictated by space constraints or furniture arrangement and you can't crawl and sort out optimal placement. You can pay for a Live Bass license or use a different RC solution.

Also, note the AudioScience review of the 505. It's effectively a 305 with pre-amps. Anyway, there's some kind of power of thermal management going on in this Pioneer series that massively drops power output after about a 1/2 minute. Not hitting its rated power for very long before throttling, and the downshift isn't reversed until the unit is power cycled:

Just use the cracked version of Dirac Love Bass Control like the rest of us did. Duh.

If it's simple, show us you have DLBC on this?

i just got the onkyo receiver deal for a similar price. its the audio i was looking for. I had a yamaha TSR5830, but no matter how much i played with the eq i didnt think it sounded much better than a decent sound bar.

The onkyo is wonderful. My living room finally sounds the same as the theaters.

This pioneer seems to be a very similar comparison. would love to hear from others who have had both.

FYI you will want to do a firmware update right away. Bluetooth was useless on mine until I updated it.

Yes
I was in Cincinnati Ohio for work for a few days and was just trolling the Best Buy outlet store while I was there.
Completely a whim purchase...but I thought for price I would most certainly bite
