What Dirac Live doesn't do is make any bass adjustments with their own filters, DLBC gives you those calculations.
This is directly from Dirac's users manual which is universal. It explains what each of their three RC's offer/do(page 32).
"Dirac Live: The filter design page is presented without Bass Control features and filters are calculated without any form of bass management.
Bass Management: Dirac Live filters are designed such that each subwoofer in the arrangement contributes equally to matching the drawn target curve. A system with 1 subwoofer will adjust this subwoofer so that it matches the curve, while a system with 2 or more subwoofers will scale the volume (or gain) of each subwoofer so that they collectively add up to provide the drawn response. However, it will not consider any destructive interference between the speakers.
Bass Control: Dirac Live filters harmonize the subwoofers and non-subwoofer speakers in the lower frequencies using tailor-made phase filters, delays, and gains." https://www.dirac.com/wp-content/...pdf#page24

Personally, I have no issue with their offerings at the lower price points of the Onkyo/Pioneer products
IMO...there is no other RC system at these price points...even with Dirac " limited" that sounds better
This coming from someone who owns both Arcam units with the full suite and an Onkyo RZ50 with the limited Dirac suite
For its price point, I dont think you can touch the Onkyo
The Onkyo RZ50 still spanks my Marantz 7015, with Audsyssey Xt32 ,all day long for movies

Also, note the AudioScience review of the 505. It's effectively a 305 with pre-amps. Anyway, there's some kind of power of thermal management going on in this Pioneer series that massively drops power output after about a 1/2 minute. Not hitting its rated power for very long before throttling, and the downshift isn't reversed until the unit is power cycled:

The onkyo is wonderful. My living room finally sounds the same as the theaters.
This pioneer seems to be a very similar comparison. would love to hear from others who have had both.
