The "person detection" does, which is the reason I refuse to upgrade. I am not paying for a service that I don't need. My biggest annoyance with Blink cameras is that things like wasps, flies, and even windy days will spam trigger the cameras. Otherwise, you can just use a local USB plugged into the main module to record the videos.
I have these cameras and really don't like them. Like others have said, everything sets them off. They also miss a lot because they stop recording after a set amount of time. I can never check them in time because you can't cut into the live feed while it's recording.
Since I'm using gen 3 and it has very pathetic night vision, like I can't even read a car number plate or identify the persons face, what you guys suggest if I want to upgrade.
I find it frustrating that they do not run off a Ring subscription. In the long run, if youre doing security better to get ring cameras and a subscription, in my opinion
These are a DOWNGRADE from xt2. do not buy.
I have xt2, gen3 and this. All are getting pregressively value engineered.
Gen3 and 4 motion detection is absolute garbage compared to xt2. Which makes sense, because they switched the sensor after xt2.
I am guessing the xt2 sensor was just too expensive.
Gen3 has a PIR different sensor, which is awful.
Gen4 has no PIR altogether.
I'd say motion detection on gen3&4 is even worse than wyze, which has no PIR sensor altogether. (cause you know.... why add a $0.25 sensor when you can charge 7$ a month for 'ai' cam plus) .
Battery life is better, and image quality is better than xt2.
But if you're pixel peeping your security camera that triggers every time a moth flys by it... enjoy those 'moth is here' pics in stunning quality.

I almost bought these Gen3 cameras on Woot until I read your review.
Thanks for the info!

I was looking at these, 1 charger plus 8 x AA Lithium (3000mWh? mWh is that correct, or should it be mAh ?) only $25 https://www.amazon.com/POWEROWL-R...MJHH9&th=1
