1) they've actively blocked homebridge to prevent being used with HomeKit
2) they stopped selling the HomeKit adapter/bridge for their existing Smart Openers
3) their retrofit transmitter/sensor also doesn't work with HomeKit
Pretty lame and short-sighted and lost any goodwill with me. I would've considered their smart camera if it worked with HomeKit/homebridge/anything else. But Will def avoid chamberlain family products in the future

Yes... as long as the door is balanced correctly(easy to lift and close by hand)

I have an 8ft door, and the kit came with a 7ft rail. The extension for the kit was readily available at Home Depot for $60 and is required if you've got an 8ft door.
Since I was replacing a relatively new (2017) existing installation, I was easily able to reuse the existing hardware in the ceiling along with the low voltage lines used to connect the door sensors and wall button.
Since I was replacing a chain drive, I was not able to reuse the bracket fastening the rail to header, so a heads up that you may have to get creative with your header bracket. The new opener came with a header bracket which I installed in a similar location to the one I removed.
In my case just about everything else was plug and play. Took a couple hours, taking my time with one set of helping hands.
Battery backup is cool. Ours is 3/4HP and I could see a 1/2HP struggling with improperly set springs or a heavy door.
The sound difference from chain to belt is always amazing. It does make a huge difference.
That means your springs need to be adjusted. My 2 car door can be lifted with one finger. A 1/10 hp would be plenty.
The motor unit and rails are typically in 2 separate boxes. Maybe the box with the rails got lost in transit. If it didn't come with any rails I would return it to Costco.

I would if I hadn't spent yesterday installing it

0.5hp is plenty. And it'll be quieter

I paid more for a "smart" garage opener and they took away all the features, turned it into a basic opener, and bricked all the accessories.
Never getting another chamberlain
Yes but it depends on the weight and type of the door. I have this exact one on mine and it works fine
I have 2 similar ones. I can open/close and get notifications from the MyQ app and I don't have the subscription.
No, it does not
I've never seen the motor and rails packaged separately in 2 different boxes! Unless it's the extension kit which you have to buy separately that you are speaking of.
