Sure, or turn it upside down and call it a boat. The only limit is your imagination.
Some ideas for mounting this over grass

People bury cinderblocks in the ground and then bolt onto the cinderblock to act as an earth anchor if you have an over slab, it's easy I have 16 giant concrete anchors holding mine down. It ain't going anywhere.
The surface area of the roof is like a big sail. It needs to be firmly anchored and completely level to prevent it from becoming a huge projectile during a storm. Even then, a decent storm can rip them from wooden decks and have killed people. A concrete slab is probably the best option.

I got the following about a year ago, but it is much heavier and has withstood 48mph so far. I'm not sure about the Maximum Wind Resistance in this deal

I bought this one as well when it was on SD...I really like it. Crazy how much it went up in price. I'd buy another in a heart beat if it went down in price again.

Yes, and this one looks lightweight to me.

I would be wary of this. I've went through 2 similar units of these, maybe not as nice but similar structure. We mount it into the ground but problem is, during a storm our topsoil becomes sandy and muddy and barely holds.

We have went through 2 in the past year. For some reason our seller offers lifetime warranties. We now put it down before any day they call over 20 mph winds.

Last week I put mine up in the back yard and we had unexpected bad winds over 20 mph and I found it in the front yard..

This one is about 50 lbs. lighter then the one we have... if I was putting in on a lawn, at the very least I'd probably anchor each leg to 16x16 concrete pavers.

Ha…maybe tie it with sandbags on each leg. I'm not sure if this one is hollow inside of the support legs. The ones I was referred to are all hollow on legs. I did not anchor any legs. But it survived 48mph winds not long ago here.

$600 ish. The problem is that if shipped to home, there's a shipping fee. I checked the purchase history, and I did not pay for any shipping. Remember, it is heavy, and the legs are long aka not easy to transport.

I picked up mine in store and had them load it into my truck to avoid shipping costs. I had to open the box and take out each section by section because it was so heavy.

Uh…I thought most of the people got free shipping from the last deal. I know HD changed the shipping policy occasionally, and maybe you were late to the deal previously.

I just checked my order history...yea, it was shipped to my house. I order so much stuff from HD, hard to remember. But I do remember that box was heavy 😃

Ok, but just the four feet need to be level, though, right? I'd be fine with digging spots for them to sit & backfilling with some tamped down rocks and sand. Also, thoughts on if it needs to be, like, bubble-level level or just level as in it would be fine with being on a few degree grade so long as front/back are even?
This needs to be anchored to something stable, such as a concrete slab or footings, or a stable deck. It needs to be relatively level, but not necessarily perfect.

Would it be safe to put a small gas (or even wood) firepit under this? Wasn't sure if having the open sides and vent on top was enough.

Thoughts on how sturdy the ground under this needs to be? Would it be feasible to just plop this down on somewhat a somewhat uneven lawn, or does it need a nice, flat pavement base?
I've owned three of these in various forms- one canvas roof, and two metal roofs. They've all pretty much been parachutes in Ohio weather. They were awesome while they lasted- but they last metal roof I put 18" curled spiked into the ground to secure it- a windstorm blew it over with the legs still attached to the ground.

I'm not going to with another one until I can get an all wood frame with cement anchoring.
