My hvac takes 1/2 inch filter, does anyone know where I could buy those for the cheap? None of the local stores around me carry 1/2inch filter, only 1inch.
Wot..... ? You say
They are are all about 1" thickness +/- . It should squash down into the housing easily.
Seems like a standard price that's not even a deal. You could go buy a 6-pack of filters from a reputable generic on Amazon for $38. Less than $7/each all day, every day.
Why spend more for the Home Depot generic? Not like you're getting a 3M logo for your money
Man, my size (16x25x5) is always a killer even in this deal. I have been lucky to find better deals at the Amazon Whse for my size, but that is really hit or miss.
I was told by the person that installed this system takes 1/2, I am not even able to squash the 1' think filters in the housing...
That's kind of ridiculous… having a custom size filter like that. It almost guarantees you won't be as vigilant about changing filters if it's difficult to procure them. I would call the company that makes your system and ask what's supposed to be used and why if it's 1/2… and if it's 1" I would ask the install company to fix it. If they refuse call the manufacturer and advise what's going on and who did the install and that you want them to honor the product warranty and get it fixed right
These are still ridiculously expensive. Each filter costs about $10 at this price. Assume you have three such in your home, and replace them every month you are looking at $30/month just for filters which is absurd.
Everyone seems out to grab your cash these days.

For the higher rating filters, there is no reason to change them every month. Maybe every other month, or 90 days.

Yes they are the cheapest and least effective at filtration. In general higher merv # = higher filtration

Higher merv filters need to be changed more often not less.
