Bought them for this price a year or two ago from secondipity - highly recommend them. Audio is great. They're comfortable. USB-C is a plus (upgraded from the XM2's). Headphones arrived in excellent condition with all accessories and the travel case.

Try before you buy. I've worn Bose QC models for over a decade of office work and air travel. I wanted to upgrade, so I tried Sony in an airport store. They felt much heavier and warmer on my head, so I had to pass. Too bad, because the sound was much better than Bose.

It always surprises me how good of job Apple did with the AirPods Pro all around, hard to beat something you put in your pocket and just throw on a Qi charger

Purchased the Xm5 yesterday new at $349. I travel on the road a lot and take calls so the additional mics in the XM5 are important to me. I called several people yesterday in a very loud van and they assumed I was sitting in a room. Needless to say I just ordered these XM5s and will be returning the others to save almost $200.

Yep, did just that before purchasing. I originally had my eyes on a Sony since they were cheaper, but since I mostly use them for air travel, comfort (for 5-hour flights), significantly smaller folded size, and ANC were at the top of my list rather than sound quality; that made the Bose an easy buy for an even lower price than the Sonys.

This is true. Had a chance to compare to my wife's Sony XM5s on our recent flight to Europe. And we both agreed that it makes sense to use AirPods Pro instead of carrying a bulky headphone setup. By no means I am saying AirPods Pro are better than Sony XM5. But we are frequent travelers and convenience comes first. But I will be very honest, one of the best features of XM5 is the support for audio jack. Being able to watch good movies and listen to music through airline provided entertainment is nothing but awesome.

I've posted this on a few threads but i'm a bit baffled by the reviews for the xm5 -- a bit lackluster and generally falling behind the xm4s...

I have owned series 3-5 over the last seven or eight years (?). I can say without a doubt that in my use cases (98% at home, games / movies / music; relaxing, indoor/outdoor chores) the xm5 is better in every sense -- ANC (xm4 is close, imo), comfort over time, weight, fit are all better than the predecessors. Oh, and battery... charge time is absurdly fast comparatively and lasts far longer... also usb-c.

Sound quality is identical between all models as far as I can discern.

Ended up getting a second xm5 -- thanks for posting.

I have heard that the xm5's don't have ability to turn off speak to chat - is this true? I have the xm4s and had to turn that off because every time I would laugh the speak to chat would activate. That's my big hang up and am trying to decide if I should get the xm5s or another pair of xm4s before they disappear for good.

It's been a few years for me, but this was my exact take when I compared the XM3 to the bose QCii. The bose were a bit more comfortable, but the sony had superior ANC. I did exactly as you stated though and tried them out in person at best buy before deciding.
