I got this last Nov for around the same price from the same Phillips website, and we LOVE this thing. We have probably run about 13 lbs of beans through it, zero problems, easy to use, easy/fast to clean, and all of the drinks are great. I can do better foam and better shots manually, but that is in the realm of diminishing returns... and the convenience makes all the difference between one or two drinks a day vs. one or two a week (if that). I went for this one because of 4 user profiles (we LOVE this feature, to be able to have everyone in the house have their own dialed in drink settings easy to access), where lesser models only have 2 I think. IIRC this was the only model that had the extra shot feature... where it will actually grind, charge, and extract one shot, and then it will empty the used puck, grind again, charge, and extract the second shot all automatically. I have extra shot on all of my drinks... that one feature alone is now a deal breaker... if I ever get another machine, it MUST do the second shot like this (vs. more grounds and a single extraction).

This wasn't cheap, but compared to superautos available say 5-10 years ago (or less) it is way cheaper, and less complicated / easier to clean & fix, and it does everything all in one go. The drinks might be slightly less good, but our fam is more than happy with this thing.
I have this machine. It's great and very convenient. Start up time is about a minute or so. You just pick the drink you want, load in the milk jug (if applicable), start it, and you get coffee in another minute or so.

The grinder on the machine (and probably similar models) is kind of loud. I would see if you can see some videos of it on YouTube to see how loud it is if something like that could be a deal breaker for you.

They haven't released a new version in some time. They released a new version of the 3200 which has an ice coffee feature while this one does not. So I imagine that they're either going to refresh this version to add Ice Coffee or will likely add a new version.
They should make the water container larger on these. I have the 3200 and love it, but the most annoying part is refilling the water every other day.

We bought 4300 for $7xx last summer and it is going amazing so far.
I would definitely go for 5400 at this price.
Worth every penny and barista at home with the drinks it comes with.

I recently bought this from Williams-Sonoma for this same price. It's been this price for a while now so, IMO, will likely go lower. The first one we bought produced weak watery coffee and the pucks were watery. We ran about 40 different drinks through it as some say it needs a "breaking in period". It didn't improve so we took it back to W-S in store and exchanged it for another one. This one works great! I was skeptical about it as I'm an Aeropress fan but I'm becoming more of a fan each day. More importantly, my wife loves it. I didn't buy via Philips because I wanted an easy return option in case we didn't like it and so having a bricks-n-mortar store nearby paid off. Amazon and Best Buy have a Delonghi on sale as well so I would consider that one as well...just be aware that you might want an easy return option. This Philips has many drink options so consider what you might use. We use the "extra shot" function each time as well as mostly cappuccino. cafe crema, cafe au lait, and cafe latte. It's cool to have all the other options for guests though.

I have a 3200 series for the past year and really like my machine. I'm tempted to upgrade it to this 5400 for the multi-profiles and 'flat white' option (partner's favorite coffee). Decisions decisions...

Just wanted to share my experience. I bought this full price from William Sonoma during the pandemic and have used it every single day to date. 2 years now? The only maintenance required is dumping out grounds and rinsing the bottom tray. Don't even need to dish wash anything. The aquacleaner filter it came with last a year and I'm on 10% for my second filter. I only put purified water from Costco into it. My main routine is a double espresso, my partner enjoys the milk frother and her lattes. The milk frother requires daily maintenance (which is why I don't use it lol)
Bottled water from Costco has a higher ppm count than my city tap in Chicago.

Run RO water and you'll never need to change the filter as it won't be filtering abything.

I have this and could not be happier. I had Nespresso and it was costing me every month upwards of $50 in coffee. Now I buy Organic or Starbucks from Costco for $15 and easily lasts couple of months. The milk frother does not require daily maintenance as someone stated. I usually just keep pouring milk over old old and then every 4-5 days, pour remaining milk out in my coffee cup and then then wash the dispense which is easy. The grinds container take about 30 seconds to empty. The filter lasts quite a while. This is one of those things in the long run will save you money. If Nespresso was costing me $50 bucks a month, that's $600 a year, my machine in little over a year is paid for. And everyone who visits love this machine because you can make so many things and ease of use. I just can't get the coffee to come out right with this machine, that's the weird part but I mostly drink Latte.

Every coffee machine out there recommends using 'fresh water' so they designed an appropriate sized tank with this in mind.

This looks like an awesome machine. I haven't read in the comments yet so sharing for others, Philips bought/owns Saeco which is a top of the line coffee machine provider (great reliability). Philips just got rid of the Saeco brand (they used to offer two lines, Saeco and Philips), and from what I've read over the years it is simply a name change; ie the quality is still there!

So yea, seems like a great machine!

Tempted but have to hold back as we just had to pay a huge amount in taxes. We've had a 3200 for almost two years and love that thing. Daily use of 3 drinks and not one issue. My wife likes the milk drinks but uses almond milk. I prefer regular milk so it's as little annoying to swap milk. I suppose I could buy a separate milk carafe but they ain't exactly cheap at $70.

Oh wow. I ordered it yesterday at 4pm and called this morning at 9am when they opened to cancel because I was thinking of getting a Breville Barista Touch Impress instead and they said it's shipping already and they can't cancel it and to return or refuse delivery if I don't want it.

Now I'm not sure if I want this super automatic or the semi auto breville 😂 at least this one has a 30 day no questions return policy.
We had a semi auto from Breville, the Barista Touch. It was a nice machine, but you really had to know how to make espresso, tamp down, froth with the wand, etc. I got it because I wanted to learn, but my wife just wanted coffee in the morning. So it stopped getting used, too much work to make and clean up after.

We got the Philips 3200 and have loved it from day one. If you got the 5400 I expect you'll be quite happy.
