Philips 5400 Series Fully Automatic Espresso Machine - LatteGo x1
Extra Philips LatteGo Milk System x1
Philips Original Descaler for Espresso Machines x2
Philips AquaClean Water Filter x6
I got this last Nov for around the same price from the same Phillips website, and we LOVE this thing. We have probably run about 13 lbs of beans through it, zero problems, easy to use, easy/fast to clean, and all of the drinks are great. I can do better foam and better shots manually, but that is in the realm of diminishing returns... and the convenience makes all the difference between one or two drinks a day vs. one or two a week (if that). I went for this one because of 4 user profiles (we LOVE this feature, to be able to have everyone in the house have their own dialed in drink settings easy to access), where lesser models only have 2 I think. IIRC this was the only model that had the extra shot feature... where it will actually grind, charge, and extract one shot, and then it will empty the used puck, grind again, charge, and extract the second shot all automatically. I have extra shot on all of my drinks... that one feature alone is now a deal breaker... if I ever get another machine, it MUST do the second shot like this (vs. more grounds and a single extraction).
This wasn't cheap, but compared to superautos available say 5-10 years ago (or less) it is way cheaper, and less complicated / easier to clean & fix, and it does everything all in one go. The drinks might be slightly less good, but our fam is more than happy with this thing.
I have this machine. It's great and very convenient. Start up time is about a minute or so. You just pick the drink you want, load in the milk jug (if applicable), start it, and you get coffee in another minute or so.
The grinder on the machine (and probably similar models) is kind of loud. I would see if you can see some videos of it on YouTube to see how loud it is if something like that could be a deal breaker for you.
They haven't released a new version in some time. They released a new version of the 3200 which has an ice coffee feature while this one does not. So I imagine that they're either going to refresh this version to add Ice Coffee or will likely add a new version.
They should make the water container larger on these. I have the 3200 and love it, but the most annoying part is refilling the water every other day.

Am I the only one who didn't like this? I bought it and returned it to Amazon. I have a Breville and didn't want to do grinding, tamping, and remaining 20 steps every morning, so I bought this. I hoped one button will give me a great cappuccino. But no, this is nowhere as good as the Breville and I returned. What's worst is that it felt cheaply built. Plastic buttons would make creaking sound. Too expensive for that quality
think your mistaken on what product this is a touch screen
I can't find the 5500 for sale anywhere. Any idea who sells it?
It looks like it was announced recently, and isn't even for sale from Philips USA directly. Amazon UK has it for sale, so hopefully that means it'll be released here soon.
Have the non latte go version of this machine for over a year. Used a fair amount daily and absolutely love it. Just follow the maintenance monthly (clean brew group, lubricate parts, oil tablets). I use Lavazza Super crema beans.
This looks like an awesome machine. I haven't read in the comments yet so sharing for others, Philips bought/owns Saeco which is a top of the line coffee machine provider (great reliability). Philips just got rid of the Saeco brand (they used to offer two lines, Saeco and Philips), and from what I've read over the years it is simply a name change; ie the quality is still there!
So yea, seems like a great machine!
I still don't understand why companies do these kinds of things. Saeco is an established brand known for making quality espresso machines… (they invented the first automatic espresso machine)
Why would you get rid of that brand and replace it with Philips - manufacturer of many things in the US I suspect most known for toothbrushes and now mediocre TV's.
Regardless it does look like Saeco just released a new top of the line machine (Xelsis) in Europe , so maybe they are keeping Saeco for the high end machines.
Nope. Ordered Monday (4/22). I called to cancel the next day and they said they can't cancel it and just to reject delivery or call to return it.
Stupid they can't cancel when it's taking so long to ship. I called Friday and they said it takes 3-5 business days to ship. If it's not shipped out today or tomorrow I'll be calling again.

"UPS Express Delivery" ugh.
Just got off the phone with them, got the "3-5 business day" runaround with an expected delivery at the end of the week/weekend.
Also, forgive my ignorance, but since when did a big company like Philips use basic Shopify
My order was palced on Friday and has still not shipped. UPS Express Delivery lol! I'm refusing mine as I can only imagine how much of a hassle it would be for warranty issues and/or 30 day satisfaction guarantee. Also, just saw a "Sold by Versuni" banner at the top of the website when I went to try to figure out how to cancel. Evidently Royal Philips divested its appliance brand and sold to a Chinese private equity company. That's no bueno IMHO.
Versuni is a company with a rich history, dating back to 1891, albeit under a different name. Philips Domestic Appliances was renamed Versuni after the Netherlands-based giant sold the business to China-based global leading Private Equity company Hillhouse Capital in September 2021.

Their espresso machines are like a separate division, it's weird. Also- still hasn't been shipped today. 🙃🙃

Mine shipped now. Will be here tomorrow. So shipping is overnight, just takes 40 years for processing.
