Non-returnable due to hazmat safety reasons
My parents have it and have had no issues cleaning it. There's also a clean function of some sort that runs hot water through the spout. They keep a cup on there to catch that water rather than having to take the tray out more often.

If you don't care about automatic milk frothing, Costco has the version of this with the manual milk frother for $450.
I've had this model for about 6 months now (bought it from Amazon for 600) and I love it. I'm a stay at home dad (to a toddler), and if things aren't dishwasher safe, I generally don't get them. The frother comes apart in a few pieces that are dishwasher friendly (I stick to the top rack), and the main black lid part can be just rinsed under warm water (it doesn't seem that milk actually even touches this part). And, I don't even wash it every day. Because the machine pulls the milk up through the straw to heat it, the bit that remains in the container is still cold. I read that many people just pop the whole closed container back in the fridge for the next day, so that's what I do. I wash it all every couple of days. and as someone else mentioned, after you make your drink, you press a button and the machine runs hot water through the frother to clean it
Hope that's helpful.
FWIW- This is the nicest (and most expensive) coffee machine I've ever had, and in my experience, I'd say buy with confidence.

Correct. Even talking with customer service, they said that the item is shippable and returnable and not a hazmat. Seems like a scam to do this to force you to keep the item. Might be better to pay a little more at best buy for peace of mind to be able to return it.

With all the iffy Amazon CS issues, it's almost worth it to pay the $50 extra and get it from Costco with a "lifetime guarantee" unless they consider this a major appliance and even still 90 days is x3 Amazon's return policy.
I think I'll pick this one from Costco direct rather than the rainforest company or $849 Phillips
Thanks OP for the inspiration.

Costco is a fantastic deal, especially considering the high (imho) breakage rate of these.

The removable brewing unit is a fantastic idea to keep it clean, which is not always easy on automatic espresso makers.

Wanted to chime ein here as well, turns out I bought this exactly a year ago (4/26) for 684.28 AT from Delonghi (with coupon). Excellent machine. I initially wanted the manual frother one, but it sold out at Costco and then we got this one. It took 2 weeks to love it and be clear we won't ever go back to a manual frother. 2 people household and we make 3-6 coffee/Latte every day. We take the brother apart at night and throw it in dishwasher or rinse it manually when the machine is not full yet. No issues, coffee is great. We're a plant-based household and use soy, oat, or almond milk, and it works great.

We had a Magnifica ESAM 3300 before, so it wasn't our first fully automatic, but it's the best overall and most attractive machine. I do miss the manual dials for coffee strength and water on rare occasion, and with the automatic frother you have a set temperature, I believe it's 120F. I wish there was a setting for giving it a higher 130 or up at times. But otherwise we love it. It's a little quieter than the ESAM 3300 and looks way more modern.

I think if you buy from Delonghi directly they add an extra year of warranty, and then you can always see if you still have a credit card with 1 or 2 years of warranty extension to top off (Citi Diamond is the only one left for us with 2 years). At this price point an absolute winner! Great machine, great coffee.

That's the special "Costco" edition. I had that from Costco and returned it because of that as well. It's a totally dumb edition.

The Costco edition is truly limited, you cannot make a simple coffee because it is missing two buttons. It's really dumb. You cannot even adjust the water amount for the espresso key to make it a coffee, and all the latte stuff will not even light up unless the frother is in. I know it's an espresso or latte machine, but selling an automatic coffee machine without the coffee button is really dumb. If you want to use this machine as a plain coffee machine and have the automatic milk frother you cannot buy the Costco edition. It's missing the coffee button, and NO, there is no work-around. Read the Costco reviews. ;-) That's why we bought from Delonghi a year ago.

The Costco with automatic frother has 5 buttons, the full edition 7 buttons (coffee and iced coffee). Iced coffee does not do anything extra (no lower temp etc.) it's just another button where you can adjust the water amount for a large glass. But it does have a magic coffee button, or 2, since you could just use the iced button as another button with different water level, say for two people with different preferences. It's still hot coffee with the iced button. Just marketing for "customization of your recipe".

They price matched Amazon yesterday and I picked it up. This morning was a lot of fun! I spent far too much time messing around with it. It's quite the upgrade from my old drip coffee maker that decided it would turn itself on whenever it wanted.

The Costco model has fewer drink options. Also I prefer Amazon because of the option of splitting the payment over 12 months (with Amazon visa card).

Why? It's an interest free loan from Amazon. With high inflation, you actually gain money in real terms. We put a lot of large Amazon purchases on 12 month equal pay.

I bought this a couple months from Amazon ago after my Philips 1200 died. The brew group is much simpler and doesn't require lubricant. I was tempted by the Costco models but they seem dumbed down or older versions. IMO it's superior to Philips in flavor. Same beans but definitely better espresso shots.

We got the manual froth version a while back from Costco for around $550 at that time. It's still working great. We make about 3-4 cups a day and every 2 weeks or so it alert us to descale. That's already with us using our filtered water and their water filter. The descale process sucks because it takes about 45 minutes. The process requires the user to check on it frequently to click the button to continue to the next step which is annoying enough, in addition to descaling every 2 weeks. It makes good coffee and we really like the machine. I don't think there is a need to spend additional $100 for the auto frothier. This is a basic frothed so don't expect to make art out of it.
