The n100 is a very capable chip for its efficiency.
Weak also implies low power consumption. I'm planning to use this to run a few services (Proxmox as OS, Uptime Kuma, Ntfy, Wireguard) as a server in my networking closet and the price couldn't be beat, especially since I have some spare ram and ssd that was unused.
Was either this or was Raspberry Pi 5, and this ended up a better cost/performance for me after considering the extra accessories I'd need for the PI.
N100 Passmark score is 5555, that's basically an Intel 7th gen i5, minus 60w. For low powered mini machine it's not bad at all. Sure someone could buy a dell Optiplex ultra small form factor pc but they would be missing out on some modern features and considerably more power consumption

So you have never updated firmware? Tell me more...
why you need update firmware, most time you don't update firmware even the manufactor web site provides new BIOS/UEFI update, but I never bother to update
The model without a fan has an S in the name:
Cubi N ADL S
I saw one review stating that the fanless models are BIOS locked into a super low power/performance mode.

Wait is Celeron N100 0.8Ghz the same thing as N100 3.4Ghz? Or is this an inferior processor?
3.4GHz is the max turbo speed.

How many drives can you hook up to this? I'm currently running my plex server on a full sized pc but it has 5 drives worth of media connected. Would like to switch to lower power consumption if possible.

mostly, you don't need update BIOS/UEFI...most likey BIOS/UEFI not much impack security ovulnerabiliies...most time it casues more bugs from update firmware...

Can anyone comment on how well online game streaming apps like Xbox Game Pass, GeForce Now, and Amazon Luna would perform on this little guy?
I'm looking for a cheap hold-me-over system for my nephew who wants to start getting into PC games. He's a bit too young for a full-blown system, but I feel a streaming setup may help him later down the road when he is responsible enough for a gaming rig.

Its ok if you get the N200 with DDR5.
But you can get the 5800u/7730u/5600u/etc... mini systems that are much faster, esp for gaming, for not much more.

Likely won't matter much, ddr5 would help if graphics were a concern but being this is extremely low in graphics power it should be just fine

Actually the number of drives doesn't matter. How much data do you have? Five 1TB drives? Five 20TB drives?
ddr5 is better than ddr4 ..

It will not matter much in this machine.
