GLD and physical gold are for different purposes. Anyone who watched what happened in Cypress with bank bailins, and knows that the US changed its laws to allow bank bail-ins, has a healthy distrust of the banking system. It's good to have some of your wealth in physical assets that the bank can't take from you in the next crisis.

If over the weekend the government did a financial reset, you could see gold revalued on Monday at 2x or 5x higher. If you own GLD, you won't get that gain, because the bank can legally close the fund and give you back your money (at Friday's price).

We have like 5% of our assets in physical gold and silver. I'd like it to be more but don't like paying these prices.

Nevada as well according to other posters on here, even though their law makes it clear it shouldn't be taxed. Apparently costco doesn't care.

Way more trouble than it's worth if you're just looking to buy gold. Most people are buying these for churning (maximizing credit card rewards, see r/churning). If you're actually looking to invest in gold just buy a spot gold ETF like $GLD. It's much more liquid and no need to deal with dealers or risk theft/loss.
If you don't physically hold gold, you don't hold gold. Buying gold ETF's is a fools errand IMO. If you're going to buy ETF's, buy actual ETF's

Correct. I tried to order second one and there was no discount on that. In short $150 off was only for one order.

And what are you holding gold for? The end of the world? Just buy fake gold then. Mad max won't tell the difference.
