I've been eyeing this kit for awhile now and the finially came down in price. This is a very good set, better than the Klein version of it.

for $5 more, Home Depot includes an 1/2" conduit bender:

For only occasional use, paying this much for glow rods when you can get a similar set on Amazon for like 30 dollars just isn't worth it. If you're a professional and use them daily, then maybe these start to make sense. Still seem too expensive for what they are...
Do you like Fish Sticks?
No, use a steel fish tape… I have both steel and fiberglass, fiberglass is great for conduit, horrible for walls with insulation. Just keep the metal tape angled so it's riding on the Sheetrock and you'll be fine.
Ran CAT6 to every room in my house when I moved in, steel tape was far better.

You definitely don't need to spend this much on this set for that- Way overkill imo, as an electrician I still cant even justify the price. Get the three-piece $45 set.

The post is about sticks not tape and his comment was steel fish tape vrs fiberglass STICKS. I use fish sticks and tape almost everyday or every other day. I prefer sticks to go straight up or down walls.

Telcom guy here. I've pulled my share of cables, and everyone has their preference but the bigger upside with fiberglass is that its non-condutive. If you think there' zero chance of hitting a live wire from a cookie cutter house construction, do what you wish but for safety, I'd use fiberglass...or just s simple pull string and no fish tape.

As mentioned, get the $9 fish stick set from harbor freight.

33ft version for $9 from Harbor Freight: https://www.harborfreight.com/3-1...fiberglass

This is more than sufficient for use around the house. I like this better than fish-tape. Also, you can buy two and get a longer lengths (I think)

That's exactly what I have for home use. Does sufficient to fish line out of places. It is missing the bend stick from the Milwaukee set though, but at much much cheaper rate.

I'm very curious what a conduit bender could do for your gardening needs.

Why, bending conduit, of course. EMT is great for nylon mesh trellises for the vegetable garden and also for staking and training large landscape plants, particularly weeping conifers.

sometimes a strong magnet (like a fishing magnet) wrapped in a sock can keep you fish on the drywall away from the insulation if you have a good metal "target" at the end. Also good with string.

Interesting. That makes sense.

Go with the harbor freight sticks for the job. If it's a one off go cheap till it breaks then you know you need a better set.

In all honesty… I'd take a little shock (yeah, I've been hit by 120 many times, ain't that bad) to find out there's a live wire in my wall. Much better than a mouse igniting itself when I'm not home and burning my house down…
