For those that dont know, and i just went down the rabbit hole. some ice fishing rods dont have seats for the reels. your supposed to secure it with electrical tape or look online for other ways so that the balance of your reel with your lure is set.

Good tip regarding attaching the reel with electrical tape. I like to lay down a layer of masking tape on the cork first to prevent gumming up/staining the cork with the electrical tape.

I read in a thread where a guy uses an old bike tube over the cork 1st then electrical tape so it doesn't gum up.

Also read put electrical tape on backwards 1st then the reel then tape over the exact spot of the 1st tape not to gum it up as well
