I hate AT&T, last time I tried to sign up for internet they did 3 hard pull on my credit. Of course, their non-US customer service (which is all they have now) couldn't help me. I had to file a BBB to get someone in the president's office to call me and said they will remove those 3 pulls that they did by mistake.
Can I sign up for this, get the reward cards, and cancel immediately without penalties?
Be careful with the gift cards. Their processor as of two years ago has been compromised and ATT won't acknowledge it. You may get a call from someone claiming they need your gift card # to activate it. Hang up the phone.
The internet service is great but AT&T's customer service makes it unusable. I signed up for a deal like this but it took them over a month and 4+ appointments before anyone came to bury the cable. After a dozen or so phone calls I was promised an additional gift card for the inconvenience but never got it. Everything at AT&T is in silos. You schedule the cable burial with 1 department but it's independent contractors who actually perform the burial, so whether they show up or not is up to them and they won't contact you since that's a different department. Customer service can submit an order for a gift card for your inconvenience, but the gift card processing team can cancel that order if they don't feel like fulfilling it. That's what happened to me, as the lady told me those gift cards hit her department's budget and she didn't want to take a hit just because customer service requested it. It was pretty obvious no customer could ever have a functional relationship with AT&T since they don't even have a functional relationship with themselves. So I canceled after the 1 month and was able to keep my ~$400 in gift cards. Maybe I'll do that again with this deal to finally get the additional gift card I was promised. That 1 month I had them was enough for them to leak my SSN on the dark web, so how much worse can they do now?
I have a credit monitoring service that picked up my ssn, full name, address, and phone number on the dark web leaked by AT&T.

70 million people were affected by the data breach but they didn't say how many with SSNs.
My brother's was also leaked so it must be a high number of SSNs leaked
I had att at my old house and it worked great but moving to a bigger house the router was too weak to cover the house. Xfinity has a better router and I get 1gig for $65 a month.
I'm not saying ATT's customer service is anything special, but I'd rather buy my own router than have to deal with Xfinity ever again. Never had as many bad experiences as I did with customer service reps with Xfinity. As soon as ATT Fiber was available in my area I jumped ship.
Any chance I could get this deal if I cancel my current ATT fiber and subscribe as a new user?
Yes. I signed up last week while signed in to my current account. Somehow I wound up with a new account number and a rep called to let me know that I had 2 Internet services. He cancelled the old same day the new one was activated (service was down for a few hours). They shipped me a new modem and told me to recycle the old one.

Don't do it; ATT WILL not pay out these bonuses. It's a scam. First the delays, then the opening of a 'ticket' to investigate why a delay. Then, they have no clue what you are talking about and deny there was ever bonuses in the first place.

One of the $100 awards was available immediately and I "claimed" it through their site. Waiting on 2 more.
