Because of ghoulish resalers and their ruthlessness in wiping out deals for the common man - you willl never find penny clearance Home Depot finds posted here.

However, I am not one of them, so here u go:

https://www.ryobitools.com/produc...6396036322

This just an example as an FYI as available in CA at 2 diff stores in my normal course of shopping. From pic attached, I just got 1 for fun cus it's not even a product I have a certain need for at the moment :

Oh I see. Interesting. I might have to go check it out and get a set. The one I got was missing the nozzle pieces so they gave me $50 off the machine. (I bought all kinds of accessories for less than $50 total even when I didn't actually own the machine yet. lol SD am I right?)

Cannot have enough tools or tool accessories, ever 👍

Were these in the sale end caps or normal shelves when you find them?

Clearance section! If you have the Home Depot app and your destination location set, there's an option to look up the stores layout in the app, and in there, you can see where the Clearance section is!

Everyone knows that $.01 means it's being removed as a sellable item, so intentionally trying to buy it for that price is just wrong ..

HD corporate policy on penny items: "If a customer has the item in cart and at checkout with an item that rings up a penny, the store is obligated to honor the price and sell it to the customer. If the customer is refused or upcharged, they are to use the Contact Us on HomeDepot.com, report that store, and get a response back in 72hrs. The customer is not to lose out on a purchase due to the MET team not pulling the items in time that it does not end up in the customer's hand. If it does end up with the customer, that is not the fault of the customer."

Where is that policy written? Is it one of those internal things that customers got ahold of and half the cashiers have never heard of?

What is your source? This was not their official corporate policy as of recently.

This was my first experience with unintentional penny clearance — and luckily, I got an old 60+ yr old boomer who was clueless and didn't even mention the 1 cent price it rang up, despite him spending a lot of time on the self checkout screen trying to figure out how to mark down my clickdeal clearance shears by 15% due to the destroyed box 😆 (as u can see in the receipt with the 15% markdown, he even messed up at first and applied the 15% to the penny item and then said whoops, wrong item and fixed it)…. Apparently he missed the training session on this
Hang on, you can get a markdown for damaged packaging? How did I not know this...

"The customer is not to lose out on a purchase due to the MET team not pulling the items in time that it does not end up in the customer's hand"...

Exactly, it's not intended to be sold.

Do you have to do self checkout to get this through? I have rung up a clearance item at $0.01 before at a cash register and then they wouldn't sell it to me.

Another time they set it back to the ~75% off price and would sell it then.
SCO is the way to go for penny items. Even if you have to bring another larger item as a distraction to buy and probably return later. Depends on how badly you want to increase the chances of you actually getting the item for a penny. Or go at a busy time when the SCO cashier is busy waiting on others.

I chalk it up to HD being stupid. If you don't want to risk accidentally selling an item that's either RTV or garbage (some of these penny items they trash), why not make it $10,000 instead of $0.01? No one would buy it then. Yes I realize it's probably an inventory valuation thing, but that's their problem not mine. Just because your clearance system is asinine doesn't mean I need to abide by it.

Under the same logic, you're also against taking advantage of price mistakes, right?

FYI if you search Home Depot for this and it comes up as full price, it's not on clearance. You can also check BS but frankly it's becoming so onerous to use.
