This probably is the lowest it's ever been ; I want to say this is even cheaper than harbor freight battery pricing?

I know a ton has changed on these batteries in the last 5 or so years so I have a general question. I know the lifetime warranty is sweet.

How do these perform compared to the octane batteries? How do they compare to the older 4ah batteries?

Had these in my cart at $79 and just couldn't pull the trigger. Glad that I waited. Came to $62 with the military discount.

Thanks for the nice comments on this deal!

Note this is a one-day-only "Special Buy of the Day" sale price. If you've been on the fence, I think now is the right time to buy. nod

In short, there's not a huge difference. The octane/Max style batteries tend to perform better at temperature extremes and have less power fade before they die (good for saws, etc. where they might seize with insufficient power).

They don't last significantly longer or anything like that. Maybe a few extra seconds in certain applications. Sometimes less than the vanilla batteries but with more consistent power delivery. Look for comparisons on YouTube, they're pretty informative.

I really don't need this but $70 for 8ah is a steal.

(I'll also note that Ridgid is about to come out with a new line of tabless batteries and in all fairness, they're probably liquidating old non-Max stock to make room.on shelves. I wouldn't consider these "bad" in any sense, just less lucrative for them to keep in stores)

Damnit I bit… my batteries are 15 years old and one is starting to fail to charge. I'm interested to see if LSA will replace mine but I have these either way.

I have an octane battery and really only can tell the difference using it on my tools that use require power, like my angle grinder and impact wrench. Other than that for all the other tools i cant tell any difference.

I've got some ryobi 4ah batteries. what's the story on using ryobi on ridgid, or ridgid on ryobi tools?? when I don't need the best, ryobi is a go to, and I've been really interested in the ridgid because of what seems like the best servicing/warranty support in the industry EEK!
