83" Class OLED S90C | Samsung US $2699.99

The Samsung S90C 83" is currently $2,999.99 at Samsung.com and other retailers. If you have EDU/EPP discount, your price will be $2699.99 before additional discounts. Let's get this out of the way first, this isn't as good as the previous deal where the starting price was $2499. Secondly the S90C 83" variant uses an WOLED panel from LG. It should be similar if not the same panel that's used on LG C3 83, A80L 83", and LG G3 83" (non-MLA). I'd love an 83" QD OLED panel, but they're currently capped at 77".

I was able to recycle an old TV for $100 discount. I chatted with a Samsung rep for 10% off, and I was able to use a referral code for an additional 5% off. My total was roughly ~$2430.

If there's any edits that need to be done, please let me know. I'm posting this from my phone, but I wanted to share this deal with others.

True! I misread that. My apologies. I'm thinking Samsung made the two models drastically different because the S90C and S95C were so similar when it comes to picture quality. The S95C wasn't worth the additional cost unless you couldn't live without the One Connect Box. I honestly feel like more people bought the S90C due to minimal picture quality differences and lack of a problematic One Connect Box.

Is the G3 77" worth the premium over the S90C? It's about $1000 more having to also purchase the G3 stand

As someone who is on their second S95C 65", I avoid it all costs. The picture quality differences between the step down S90C is minimal. I believe the S95C has a higher peak brightness. It also comes with Samsung's One Connect Box. The first unit I received was faulty out of the box. The audio constantly dropped out while using my Apple TV 4K. My 3090 gaming PC, PS5, and XSX kept dropping out. It was unplayable.

After a failed tech visit, Samsung decided to swap out the entire unit with a brand new S95C. I'm still having issues with gaming PC, but everything else is working as intended. My PS5, XSX, and Denon Receiver with my Apple TV 4K are flawless. I actually bought the S90C 83" to replace the S95C so I wouldn't have to worry about the One Connect Box. The S95C will be going in my bedroom so I can still enjoy it without having to worry about the dropouts with my gaming PC.

With my first S95C, I tried $300 worth of different cables. UGREEN, Zeskit Maya, AudioQuest, RuiPro, and BlueRigger. It didn't matter because the One Connect Box was faulty. You'll know right away if you have a faulty unit. Some people get lucky with the One Connect Box, and it works as intended. I briefly tried out the QN900D 65" because I was going to wait until the 85" model went on clearance. Same song and dance. My consoles worked fine, but my gaming PC would randomly drop out due to the One Connect Box.

If I were you, I'd either look into the S89C 77" or S90C 77". The S95C premium isn't worth it.

The One Connect Box isn't capable of the full bitrate of HDMI 2.1, which gaming PCs make use of. It's possible future versions of consoles will also have issues with it.

Supposedly Samsung updated the 2024 models with 48Gbps HDMI 2.1 ports. I had issues with the QN900D 65" and its One Connect Box. On AVSFORUMS, I haven't seen any complain about the S95D's One Connect Box. Either way, I won't buy another Samsung TV with a One Connect Box. It's a shame because I had the UN55HU9000 from 2013, and I had zero issues with the One Connect Box.

Good deal. Chat was able to give me 10% off and 2yr warranty. Stacked it with the $100 trade in for some old 32" TV I have laying around. Promo also has free mounting. Total before tax was $2348.99

I'd imagine 2013 av signal demands were much less compared to today's peripherals. Nevertheless, Samsung shouldn't have inferior connection on their flagships vs step down.

Either way, irrelevant to s90c which doesn't have 1connect

How'd you get it to be $2348? Mine total with a tv trade in and the 10% was still around $1600

RTINGS posted their review of the S90D 65". I don't think they confirmed which generation of QD OLED panels were being used, but they're not going to review the 77" or 83" WOLED separately.

I don't think it's worth the $1,000 premium if you have to buy a separate stand. The MLA Technology is fantastic. The G3 77" was either $2599 or $2699 back in November I believe so I'd wait for a better deal. If you have access to LG's Partner Mall Program, the LG G3 77" is $2900.00. I'd try to sign up with your work email to see if you company participates.

I totally agree with what you're saying. Devices prior to 2018-2019 didn't utilize HDMI 2.1 bandwidth so most devices were capped at 18Gbps instead of 40Gbps or 48Gbps. I only mentioned the One Connect Box because I wanted to let people know that the S90C was a better value, and the differences between the S89C/S90C and S95C were minimal.

I marked the thread as expired because I wasn't able to replicate the initial deal. My old cart was cached with the $2699.99 intro discount price, but I received a messaged stating the price changed to $2999.99. If that changes, maybe the mods can make this thread active again.

Here's my price breakdown:

$2699.99 - Initial Work Discount
5% - Referral discount
10% - Samsung Chat Promo Code
$90 - TV Recycle Discount - I bought a $10 TV from Craigslist.
$53.55 CB Rewards

Roughly $2400 in the end. I couldn't get the free two year warranty because I used it previously when I bought the S95B, but my Credit Card doubles the MFG warranty so if there's any issues I'll go through them.

Lastly, I found this deal by checking Samsung's website every so often. If you look at other Authorized Dealers, they'll inform you when the current sale is over. Most retailers promos were valid through 4/25/2024 so I had a feeling that the 83" model would be next.

I personally have a 55 S90D (got at a discount through TheInsidersNet for review) & I confirmed via service menu to be Gen 2. Only 77in from last year was all Gen 2.

Only real difference in Gen 2 vs Gen 3 is longevity & a tad bit more brightness, unless you know how to mod via the service menu. AVSForum has some great tools, was able to get my S90D to hit 2k peak highlights & someone else w/ S95D (all confirmed Gen 3) got to >3k nits. Granted, this could void warranty & potentially damage TV if used improperly.

Awesome! Thanks for letting me know. I heard about the Insiders program, and I hope I get picked to review the G4 65". That would be awesome.

The S90D looks impressive as well, but I'll be sticking with my S95B and S95C for the time being. I tend to keep the TVs on stock firmware and I take them offline as well. I don't trust those updates, haha.

Did you get your S90C yet? How did it work out?

Could you imagine!? I could see how that conversation would go with me. "So there's a new 83" I want to try out." I desperately wanted the G4 83" but it's super expensive. Maybe in my next lifetime, haha.
